Thanks I really appreciate it. To be honest I was thinking about learning that trade so I might give it a try soon. |

Great work, But no offense, when an artist is at the level of being paid for their craft, I kind of expect them to be able to both model & texture their work. If not, I'd have to pay someone to UV & texture it.... if I paid for it modeled. I wouldn't expect animation too, since that's it's own dpt. but, just imagine the pride & power you'd have, to say "Modeled & Textured by Rot_Ales" Instead of: Modeled by Rot_Ales, Textured by_______ Also, It's always easier for the original artist to UV & texture their work, then having any new person (no matter their experience) figure it out. In short, I'm the kind of person that will pay for work well done, but it has to be finished, your basically asking us to pay for something unfinished, and then pay for someone else to finish it for you/ us. Not to mention, how hard it is to find texture artists. I'm sorry, no disrespect man, just telling it like I see it, maybe it's just me, since none of the 3D artists on my team are just modelers. GeneralJist no offense taken and thanks for the time you took to analyze my work. I have the basic knowledge for texturing a model however to do hand-painted texture for which I expect my models to be textured with, while I can certainly manipulate and texture models with edited photo samples, I've always intended the stylized models to have hand painted stylistic texture work (in the spirit of something like world of warcraft or league of legends). I'm sure you've seen plenty of basic shoddy texture work floating around. That's usually done by generalist as opposed to real painters. |

I do not wish to further the "you're not ready for paid work because this and that" - because truth is, you can and SHOULD be paid for your work, its a free world where you should be allowed to charged for your services. Do I think you will find a buyer?.... I enjoy your modeling. I also think even the modeling alone can be pushed further. I will try to help with an image which I will only leave a link here to: I.imgur.com Learning to paint textures by hand is actually very easy. Not only is there an enormous amount of tutorials on the style, but learning new materials (and selling them from profits) is as easy as going out and studying the natural world. |

oh no, I in know way meant he shouldn't be paid for his work, sure, we all "should" be paid for work well done, but tell that to "moders" who do great quality truly unique work, but because of a technicality, can't make money in any way. (maybe in the old days that was ok, but now.....) As I said, he does great work, all I meant beyond what I've already said is, that their are levels of quality and experience, and believing that a person is entitled to being paid, just because it's done is not really how the world actually works. Oh, if only it did work where an hour of labor = and hour of pay, in all contexts. We all deserve to be "fairly compensated for our time", how that manifests is just up for discussion. Remember, money is just a symbol, and is only worth what we ascribe it. Edited by: GeneralJist |
