![]() "Ragnarok Battle Offline" is a great 2D side-scrolling fighting game that's sort of a spoof from the popular Ragnarok Online game from Gravity. It features 6 different classes from the said MMO: Acolyte, Warrior, Magician, Thief, Merchant, Archer, and Novice. You are able to level up your character and pour points into stats and skill points. There's plenty to do, a lot of monsters to beat up, great art direction (really noticeable production value despite almost being a fan-made project) with eye-catching visuals in a sense that they really took their time to convert RO into a 2d plane that's quite fun. I'm still learning to play the game myself, so I can't provide too much. However, I believe you can use either a keyboard or a gamepad while playing this game, and it has support for two others to join in on the action. I don't know how to use the skills themselves, but I'm sure there's a guide on the internet with full detail on how to do this, since so many people are playing this game already (I haven't heard any real negative thoughts about the game, other than the fact that the dialogue is in Korean). The good thing however, is that the menu text does have English translation when you start up, and it's not difficult to figure things out (it's a traditional fighter in a sense that you destroy everything/certain objects in order to continue). Fans of iRO will love this game, and I think some who aren't should check this game out, since it is free after all (albeit a lengthy download). Here's some screenshots: ![]() ![]() Download Location: Ragnarokbattle.filecloud.com -- At the bottom, click on Ragnarok Battle Offline's Files and click on RBO Download. You can also grab a torrent here if you want everything wrapped up nice and clean: Hongfire.com NOTE: This is a free and legal download, since it is been advertised that way, and it also hasn't been licensed in the United States (or any English country, for that matter). EDIT: I have found out that the skills basically come down to this: down, front, attack So, nothing too difficult, I presume? That was the first thing I thought. To be honest, it really doesn't look like anything worth warranting attention either. |

I take it "Offline MMO" means boring combat and static world without mutliplayer interaction? Not my cup of tea. |

It's more of a sense like .hack, where there are other characters in the background interacting with each other to make it appears as though it was an MMO, although the extent of which is pretty small (you won't see them running around helping you or whatever). It can still be a lot of fun depending on the kind of player you are. That's really the farthest the term goes, so don't fret, methulah. @ ambershee - Well, two screenshots won't do a lot to a person's opinion. I'd recommend trying it at least once, and if it doesn't interest you, delete it. Edited by: Karuto -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

No, it's not just you. It can't be an "Offline MMO", when MMO stands for "Massive Multiplayer ONLINE" Edited by: Jenny_Kitty -- modDB▪Old-Oldtimer |

That's why I googled it first and read up on it before posting. |

No, it's not just you. It can't be an "Offline MMO", when MMO stands for "Massive Multiplayer ONLINE" Lawl, well, the term was supposed to be an oxymoron. How about just a RPG? I just meant it was like Ragnarok Online, but offline. Ragnarok Offline, thus, is its name. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

How come every character is blind? |

It's apparently the design of the characters, the direction the art went. I think it looks pretty cool, although I'm sure the reason might be that since this was a project that wasn't originally under the supervision of Gravity, they tried to make some direct changes for the classes so they wouldn't come under fire. Honestly, I don't really know, but I don't think that's a problem at all. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |
