MESQUITE, TX - JULY 22, 2005 - QuakeCon, the largest four-day gaming event in North America, announced that Intel Corporation, the world's largest chip maker, has joined the increasing roster of blue-chip companies as a title sponsor of the 10th Annual event. More than 6,000 gamers from around the world are expected to descend on the Gaylord Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas August 11-14, to frag, party, meet their online buddies in person and check out the latest hardware and software from industry leaders. As the "Official CPU" of QuakeCon, Intel will be providing Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor Extreme Edition based tournament systems and dual Intel® Xeon processor based servers to host all of the tournament and BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) games; as many as 3,200 hardcore gamers are expected to bring their own rigs for 96 hours of marathon gaming madness. The latest in Intel technology will also be on display in their massive 2,400 square foot booth in the exhibitor area. "We are thrilled to be selected as the CPU provider for QuakeCon. Ten years of gaming history has led to this moment where Intel architecture is chosen as the platform for the QuakeCon gaming tournament." said Tim Takeuchi, gaming campaign strategy manager, Intel. "The Intel Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition platforms provide an incredible overall gaming experience with high performance to handle today's most demanding games." "We couldn't be more excited about the new level of enthusiasm and energy that Intel is bringing to the 10th Annual QuakeCon," Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software said. "Hardcore gamers are all about the latest and greatest hardware, and Intel's Pentium 4 processor Extreme Edition tournament systems and servers can deliver the raw horsepower we need to keep our attendees gaming non-stop for four days." One of the CEOs of id software said they were going to show off the multiplayer from Quake 4 at this year's QuakeCon. Lucky bastard. There should be big events like this in the Midwest. We've been screwed from day one. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

We'll hold our wheat and corn hostage until we get it in writing that there'll be more conventions in the midwest. WHO'S WITH ME? |

I hate to tell you this but the midwest is really not liked by any big market things because they think all we do is farm ! -- Grammar is my worst enemy along with flying chairs.

If you want more conventions I have a suggestion: STOP WRITING WELFARE CHECKS AND MAKE YOUR COUNTRIES DESIRABLE AGAIN. But yeah, there are not many conventions in the south east, exept of corse for Dragon Con. Yeah I live a few of blocks away from it. 10-15 minute drive tops. |
