On Blender I have been trying to make a Rubix Cube by simply using a cube mesh and adding the proper skins and other stuff (please excuse my noobiness)
So I have the cube Loop cut a couple times till it resembles a colorless, shadeless Rubix Cube, I then enter face select mode and choose only one side of the cube, I go to add my image texture and end up with the selected side the right image but all the other sides having 3 stripes of colour. Then I tried splitting the sides from the mesh and then adding the image, the result still remained unexpected and bad.
Basically what I need to know is, is it possible to have all different sides of my cube have a different image on them, if not would I have to make 6 different planes, attach an image to each plane and then just connect them into a cube?
Also, considering my mesh work is still pretty lousy and I've only been using Blender for 3 weeks or so, is it about time I learn how to UVmap? (I still don'y know anything about animating)

Thanks Varsity for the link, I've now finished the tutorial and in turn finished the Rubix Cube
