Job OPEN @ modDB Thread

Ok this is a job I have been meaning to do for quite some time but never really got around to it. It is a big task, not too difficult which can only really be done by ONE polite individual though we can all help them out.

That is spreading the word of the MOD DATABASE. Ok most if not all gaming sites have a link to related 'fan sites'

Presently modDB is listed on none of these sites and well let me assure you, lots of people when they get a game find the sites they want via such a list (i used to be on the HL list and got like 100 + people DAILY)

So the aim in a nutshell is to get on such a list and this is the job required

• 1. Goto EVERY game profile, goto the games webpage and find a contact email (should be PR contact, not support or anything)
• 2. Write a customised email to this offical game site, introducing modDB and give a reason why it should be linked
• 3. Repeat until all games are done and modDB is hopefully linked on a few such sites

Obviously the email has to be written very well and customised... an example i suppose could be some like:

As you are well aware the creation and playing of modifcations is what gets and keeps many of your diehard fans, constantly seeking something new, something exciting, something original. The mod database ( Moddb.com ) is dedicated to listing all mods from all games, with your game (Halflife) of no exception with a growing modification base ( Moddb.com ). Listing every mod is of course a task which cannot be done without the support of the game developers such as yourself and a link in your fan sites would be appreciated. It will help your gamers find our site and find your games mods and continue playing your game as you intended. Thanks for your time.

Here is another email I wrote a while ago on a similar subject

So yeah the job at hand is to find someone interested in chaising up all these offical game sites with fansite links and finding an appropiate email. Of course you shall be representing the modDB so please respect that and keep things pro?

does sound like a needed idea... i must have just thought that it had already been taken care of... another valuable resource would be to go out to other community site, such as the ones listed on the developers fan site page, and get links from them

I could give it ago... seeing as I have of lots of time on my hands at the moment (I'm supposed to be revising) but the job would get done quicker if a few other people did this as well

Extended Play should have an article focused on game mods... and that should refer to modDB.com, so just send a link to the producers or post on their (ignorant) forums.

Give me the a part of this job, im totally free at the moment. For about 3 weeks at the least.
