Warhammer 40k - high-res pics
See? isn't that totally awesome? Do people just get on photoshop and make stuff like this? Or is there something else? are there any good tutorials on the web? i'd like to know. any info helps, thanks.

photoshop mainly
it takes allot of practice doing that and its kinda hard to learn if you have to start from 0 skill
but yeah, usualy they first sketch it, shades, outline it, basic color, advanced color and then some effects
look up some speedpaints on youtube :)

Doesn't impress me, as it looks like a render with bad re-touching in photoshop. It's a bit too much of everything in that image.

What impresses me is stuff like Dusso's Matte Paintings, which sometimes use Vue to render a realistic environment, then export it into 3ds Max to add basic building shapes, add a light source and render - and then paint over in Photoshop. Makes for incredible results, but these are probably worth weeks of work, even if you are as good as Dusso:
