Everyone is certainly aware at the amount of dead mods, and what I am aware of is that each of those mods generally get a bit of modeling done.

And so I propose to sort of create a Dead Mod Donation, whereas people who have had models made but will never use them simply give them to help out promising mods.

So i ask to you, what kind of media do you have to give from Dead mods to help out the rest of us?

Personally, i'm looking for guns and player models.

Cheers,
Sam

Nice idea, but I fear most modteams are a bit too protective over their content. I hope the contrary though, I'm currently doing everything myself for the most part so it might help... might.

Theres nothing stoping anyone uploading models to moddb, for everyone to use. The probable reason for most not to do this is that they may not get as much credit for there work.

Stuffie: Then they should release them under a licence which requires you to give credit to use them.

yea, we'd include 100% of all credit to all donations, i mean they did make it, i mean cmon, i'd consider stealing if i didnt... and this way, there media would appear in a game...

i have few models from a mod i started but abandoned i could give ya, but i doubt it would suit your mod, as the weapons were a little futuristic..

because most people have no idea what licences are around for artistical material. straight copy from my project page:

Artistical work (except concept-arts) contributed to this project will be handled using the Free Art license. If you contribute artistical work to this project you accept it to be put under FA license. For this purpose add to the comment of your artistical file (if existing) or a separate comment file the following disclamer:

[- A few lines to indicate the name of the work and to give an idea of what it is.]
[- A few lines to describe, if necessary, the modified work of art and give the name of the author/artist.]
Copyright © [the date] [name of the author or artist] (if appropriate, specify the names of the previous authors or artists)
Copyleft: this work of art is free, you can redistribute it and/or modify it according to terms of the Free Art license.
You will find a specimen of this license on the site Copyleft Attitude Artlibre.org as well as on other sites.

I agree, there should a seperate function in the control panel for mod leader to upload some work. I know that if we had some models, we would have some screens and therefore some fans.

Wasnt there a guy who put up a post trying to buy assets from dead mods? I dont think he got any response.

If he was going to PAY people and got no response, then i doubt this will go anywhere. Sorry. Just being honest.

Paying for stuff just makes things complicated, there'd have to be agreements/contracts etc, just seems like a hassle. But donating just out of HL2 mod comradory, doesn't sound like it's below anyone. Personally, if i believed in the mod and i had dead stuff to give away, i wouldnt waste my time going through some junky payment thing to get a few bucks for something i did for free initially.. but thats just me...
