Half-life2 deathmatch | Locked | |

I guess that the issue has crossed many minds around here but i havent seen anyone writing anything about it so i thought it might be a good time to do so. As you may or may not be aware, half-life2 will NOT contain any deathmatch mode, only Counter-Strike: source. Witch, in fact, is the only multiplayermode that the half-life2 package will contain, unless you go for the silver package back at www.steampowered.com,, then you will have Day of Defeat:Source aswell. The lack of half-life2 deathmatch is, of course, a "devastating" (didnt really mean that ) blow against the gaming community. I thought that this thread could gather people who are in the same opinion as mine. If my searchingskills are inadequate and if there already do exist a hl2dm modteam I would be really thrilled if anyone could tell me of this and where to find their site... And so on . Yey, my first thread here, hope its not the last! |

Yeah, I discussed this on the IRC with the other guys, and they said it wouldn't be the same. It would be cool if they just took the original, gave it that Source kick in the ass, and added a bunch of new maps. That way, you'll pay homage to the original, while also handing it off to a better life -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Adrenaline Gamer 2 looks like it could be set to be a great HL2 death match modification. www.snarkpit.com news page has info. |

There's no mod site. It's probably already in HL2, just not announced. I mean, how else are you gonna have a good base for a deathmatch mod? -- < insert subject games here >

Well, even so, there will be tons of mods with a Deathmatch mode in them, so it's no real loss. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Cheapy, it has been officially anounced that the only mp will be CS:S. Also, the reviews also say it isn't included. |

Well, it sucks to be a hl2 modder then, only restricted into creating CS clones. -- < insert subject games here >

Well, no one is restricted to only CS clones. There's plenty of innovation at hand if you take a look around Moddb, such as Insects Infestation Of course, there's already been mods for CS, such as custom bump mapping and specular highlighting to the game's player models. Can't wait to see how intuitive it will be to mod HL2 It can only be better than HL1, since VALVe promised an easier way to mod. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

the promised a lot... any held nothing much up to now. |

Well, I'm sure if anything, the modding of the game is something they always promise correctly, since if it wasn't for the modding style of HL1, it wouldn't still be this popular so many years down the line Half-Life 2's real bid for glory is its own modding system. That'll help it stay around for years to come. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Half life had lots of unnecessary difficulties when it came to modding it, but everyone did it anyway. I suspect it'll be the same for hl2. Also, i think it's terrible that they can't be bothered to put a little deathmatch mode in. Who cares if Yawnfest (aka cs:s) is included, I want my deathmatch damnit! |

Then make it. lol. A lot of people are complaining of no Half-Life 2 Deathmatch. Sometimes, mods are even better than their games (Red Orchestra could be a standalone game and could be wildly more successful than plenty of its WW2-styled counterparts). Just make it a mod already -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

They is going to be HL1:Source right? Is it not likely to have the old halflime deathmatch for multiplayer? I still think a HL2 deathmatch could be fun, imagine the gravity gun in multiplayer. Especially if you could grab grenades etc. Or think of the fun if the gravity gun could affect players... Throwing each other around the map. Edited by (in order): Tetraboy, Tetraboy -- Tetraboy |
