It's Grey Fox from Metal Gear, I do believe. Nice job thus far. Keep this thread updated on your progress. Edited by: Karuto -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Ahaa... never played much Metal Gear, I've seen it once, tried that Solid one once and tried some 2d Solid one once... If it's meant to be a human.. then it's allright model |

This page made me laugh so hard...the pain...not a fox - you failed! You can try out a freeware called MakeHuman. It generates human bodies, according to your needs and you can play with the meshes in 3Ds. Your model looks pretty good to me, but little programs like this will help you to work a lot faster. If you're making it for a game, it will need to be animated, and that means modeling the arms so that they are out at an angle. Also, polycount means nothing unless those polygons happen to be triangles. While working with an "Editable poly", in the modifier stack select "Turn to Poly". Check "Limit polygon size" and enter 3. Collapse and count. It looks good for a static mesh though, nice definition. Edited by (in order): mikejkelley, mikejkelley |

thanks for the tips guys. it seems that 'turn to poly' turns it into mesh yet still have the poly tools? i did what you said and he is still just a little above 3000 poly once i have time im going to animate him, any tip on how i should make the rig and bone if im going to make my own? and how hard is it to animate in one spot technically for games? what should i consider when animating for games? iv search for tutorials on properly animating for games but cant find any. why is that? |

MakeHuman isn't really a modeler, it's a Poser-like program for subdivision models not suitable for games. -- < insert subject games here >

Why isn't it? I haven't tried importing the models to anywhere else but Max. You can work on them, re-save them in another format and export them to other programs. Plus they really look good and have decent polycounts. Im not saying it's a perfect solution, but you can use its models as template for modding your own creations (from it). If you cannot, I'd like to know why not, Leilei. Boss me around, c'mon. I really thought [flesh] was looking for programs to make modeling easier. Only afterwards I realized he's more interested in the technical side of it. --

SK the tri count is to high the meshes are messy and its really cheating. |

Well, Grey Fox does wear a skintight suit. -- |

Ok, good to know MakeHuman doesn't make sense for game development. True thing about the clothes, I realised that, too. I misread the post, thinking flesh was looking for some tool to make modelling a human easier... --

mikejkelly, hey i cant undo the 'turn to poly'. now hes like a mesh all cut up in traingles and i cant use the 'turn' tool the 'editable poly' has. whats up with that? how can i reverse it? did you purposley do that to mess me up? well today i finaly got time to work on grey fox but now i got this 'turn to poly' problem presented by mikekjelly :/ |

They coudl probably use your model once you're done. It looks good for now. OF course there are a fwe things, aldready been stated. But it's part of the learning exp, which is good cause that's what your doing it for. Yeah, so good luck with that. --
