Well I finally bought World of Warcraft today, after going through a 5-month withdrawal induced by the termination of the week-long beta stress test, and culminated in some rather desperate measures that I will not share.

I could not stand hearing my friends talking about their lvl 50 characters any longer, so I saved up $80, and indulged myself in the game for $49, plus a $29 two-month game card.

I just finished creating my account from a school computer, and will be going home to create my first character (probably a night elf rogue, but possible a human or gnome mage) within an hour.

The reason that I'm sharing this, beyond repenting for my "desperate measures" mentioned above, is that I will be doing an in-depth review of the game for ModDB over the next few months, homework permitting. I'm also using it as an excuse for maybe not being very active here for a little while. In between homework and playing WoW, I might not have that much time to browse these forums, but I will make an effort to complete my HL2 review in a timely fashion. I will definately drop by each day still, but I might not spend 3-4 hours on here every night, as I have done in the past.

Cheers everyone!

~Sangye "San-J" Ince-Johannsen

P.S. If anyone else wants to play with me in WoW, I'll be on a PvP server called "Deathwing"

I must just not be paying attention, the avatar looks familiar but the name seems off... I'm really sorry if you're insulted, but I can't seem to remember you.

Why am I expected to know every member here? Even if he is a moderator, there were a bunch on that list of new ones I never met. Just because I forgot/never met one does not mean I'm retarded :P

He's not a new moderator, actually he has been around for a good amount of time now.

I hate WoW graphics, that's the thing that stops me from checking the game out. The game has an ugly overcolored feel to it, totally different from the other warcraft games.

Yeah, I've been here for over a year, and have been on the staff for over 6 months. I have over 500 forum posts, a number of which (I thought) where talking to you. I wrote the most read review here, and have awarded several of the awards. It's not like I haven't been active.

It's alright though, from time to time I see an old-timer that I absolutely don't recognize the name of :D

I'm really enjoying World of Warcraft. Blizzard did an absolutely marvelous job, though I can understand why Bart might not like the graphis. They are pretty cartoony.

The only thing I dislike about WoW is... 1. there is no name filter and 2. people aren't very friendly. but other than that its freakin' sweet.

i thought the graphics looked pretty good in the videos i had seen. it has a lot of detail though, a lot of eye candy.

Yeah, I've already met a lot of arseholes.. I guess MMORPGS tend to attract them more than your average game, probably because your relative skill in it doesn't have to do with your own physical skill or reflexes, but your time playing.. So someone who totally sucks in Counter-Strike could totally own in World of Warcraft after a few months of playing.

wilhelm, stop rambling on about it, if you don't recognise him, you don't need to start telling us a story about how you don't recognise him.

He might not recognise you, the forum does NOT equal moddb, goto the front page and goto online users, there's a shit load more folk online there than there is if you look at "who's online" in the forum.

I really don't mind him not remembering me, but I am surprised by this, as I have talked to him directly (with response) in a number of threads, including Stuffies SDBC2/ModDB character sketch thing thread, the babe thread, and a few others..

Whatever, like I said it's cool. At least you'll remember me now :D

Anyway, back on subject, I decided to quit playing my main character (Human Mage), as it was too generic.. Now I'm a lvl 10 Night Elf Druid.. And dead sexy at that! Here's a screenshot:

I've got a 10-day guest pass, but you'd need to know someone with the CDs, that you could borrow them from..
