I'm currently learning how to model with Maya (I know a little bit already from using LightWave), and I was wondering if I could get some feedback on some of my work.

I think I'm doing quite well, however I'll also need to learn the basics of animation and texturing in it later, so if you have any tips (for anything) that would be greatly appreciated!

Time-lapse videos of me modeling (skip to end if you only want to see the end result)

For a beginner im liking this very much
With textures these could be great low poly models!

Thanks!
I'm not too sure on how to make higher poly models however. So any tips on that subject would be nice.

You are doing excellent work! I would just recommend you to smooth a bit your models but AFTER you do all the details and texturing. I have done that since I noticed it gives better results and it helps to improve the design process.

ohh and another tip... Try looking for photoshop final touches tutorials.. sometimes renderings DO look better when you add all the colour stuff in photoshop rather than in your 3d software. But sometimes, not always..

Btw
To learn to texture i just mucked around for like 30hours.
Barley any GOOD texture tuts out there, so just learn photoshop in all ways and go from there. (also use custom brushes THEY HELP HEAPS)

Thanks for the advice! Now all i need to do is figure out how texturing works exactly (I already know how to use photoshop)

question: why'd you do this via polygons & not NURBS? I'd think for most of that NURBS would be easier: make your points, copy/paste the curve, adapt the points & then skin it. It's my favorite way to model stuff like what you did.

EDIT: cool looking blade tough. :)

I've never heard of that way to model, but i'll look into it! If you have any tutorials that would be great.
