Hi,

I've created a new entry for the news section at about 9 o'clock today. After 13 hours my entry is still awaiting authorisation. Please don't get me wrong: Sure, I am a bit disappointed, but I am not angry! Now I just want to discuss a simple question: Is there a way to improve the authorisation system?

Here are some suggestions that might speed up the process:

  • long time/experienced users are more trusted and won't require authorisations
  • experienced users can see even unauthorised entries and are allowed to rate their quality which in turn will affect their authorisation
  • you can collect points for previous entries, that might affect future entries

What do you think about that? Do you have additional suggestions or are you happy with the authorisation process and speed in general?

Greetings

Hey it usually should take max 14 hours for your news article to be featured. To note though, some lower quality articles (3-4 pictures, not much textual content, no videos) can still be a bit delayed.

The only trusted articles of adequate & solid quality would be this kind of news (linked below):
Hearts of Oak: A Look Back at 2014 Indiedb.com
ExtroForge Terrain Generation Indiedb.com
The Universim February Update Indiedb.com

and they are very hard to come by, unfortunately.

User voting seems like a nice idea however. Or always archived by default and voteable by experienced users (contributors) for automatic landing on the front page. "Pre-authed" / "trusted" articles would be impossible seeing that many developers choose to post articles the easy, lazy way, without putting much effort into their news pieces.

This is being thought about for v5
We could give devs that prove they can contribute consistent high quality content. Auto news / download authing on the basis they don't abuse the privilege.

Feel free to post your other ideas in the v5 feedback thread here.
