quakesrc works, but it's been down off & on recently. What exactly are you trying to do with the source & what compiler are you using?

/me wonders what a good compiler for c++ is. anyone have any ideas ?

Jun 7 2004 Anchor

I used to use LCC because it's free, but it's a pain to set up the makefiles just to get your code to compile. Now I use MSVC++ and I couldn't be happier. It costs $100, but it has a nice professional interface and comes with all kinds of utilities and reference material.

You can get a version of VC++ from Microsofts website for free, but there's no IDE. Its a command line interface.

Carni, I should have 2 C++ compilers but they are both command line progs. I'll see if I have any of the development software from HA (NH) and if so, I'll throw you my copy. I know I have a C one as well if you need thast but again, no GUI. I'll get back after 3:00.
Go with MSVC++ if you're heading down the visual road.

that has to be the most confusing download list i have ever seen :|

why cant it just tell you what you need to get started instead of throw out hundreds of random downloads in a unrecognizable extension .
