Blender and l4d modeling Thread

hello, I was wondering if blender with some plug-ins would be good for modeling props and weapons in l4d. I was also wanting to know if there is something better then blender for my purposes. Any help would be great.

There are two Blender SMD export scripts. One works with props but no animations but has import while the other can only export but can also export animations if required. They should both be in the Valve Wiki ( or however this is called ).
