Best RTS??? Thread

Hey, I need your guys opinion on what the best RTS. I'm looking solely for games based from WW2 to present day, so not games like Rome Total War or AoE. Also, don't mention any CnC games please!

those are just some of the brand new ones. there were some other really good looking ones but i forgot their names. if i remember them later ill post them.

Empires: Dawn of the Modern Age

Blitzkrieg is pretty fun, but it can be difficult. Empire Earth also has some ages based around the era you wanted.

I was going to say Empire Earth, but that does old time ages also. Empire Earth 2 is comming out soon.

Starcraft.

I'd say Homeworld 1/2, but thats not present technology... no humans in it at all actually.

Silent Storm. That game is amazing World War 2 mixed with Sci-fi = one hell of a game

This is probably not helping and it's not "really" a RTS... X-COM Apocalypse. You can play it like the two older X-COM games in turn based mode or in real time mode! The real time mode is really fun. If you're going to play it on Windows XP, you probably need some fix file that can be found somewhere on the net. Sounds may not work at all and the videos don't work, but it's fun to play when playing some mp3s or cds.

Real War, C&C:Generals, Warcraft III

Wow...you want to know the best RTS games but will only settle for WW2 to Present Day, that eliminates alot of the best ones, Homeworld, Starcraft, Warcraft, Dawn of War, Empire Earth, Age of Empires, Total War, Battle for Middle Earth, Total Annihilation, Ground Control, I wish I could think of a few more, but that list will do. All of em are great, greater I think than any of the WW2 ones.

go get demos for the games everyone has listed.

better yet, respond and tell us which ones you have played...

I heard it got bad reviews, but it also had "subject matter" that was bad or something. theres terrorists in the game that scream jihad right?

LOL are you kdding me? It is wayyyyyyyy better than any C&C I had ever played up until Generals.

Dawn of War, Homeworld II, and Rise of Nations are my favorites.

Maybe I'm just a deranged lunatic, but I can't stand the Blizzard RTS's except for WCIII... yes, that includes Starcraft.

though if you're asking for a good one, then its not your kinda game,

homeworld 2 is HARD.

In your view, I have played all of those, Dawn of War was more fun than all of them put together.

Starcraft.

And Warcraft II, the best real time strategy games ever.

Anybody has played Armies Of Exigo? It's weird that such a huge corporation like EA has released a W3 clone, that uses the same engine and even has 3/4 of the game mechanics unchanged. But still it's nice, has OBLITERATING in-game cutscenes and better graphics than W3.
