Recently been working on a model to mess around and learn the current modeling program I am using which is the xsi Mod tool. But recently when compiling a beta version to see how it reacts in Garrysmod 10, the model is getting an error with its .VVD thus not loading at all and appearing more as an error then a prop (and invisible). This exact model had been working earlier, till this compile. Is it possible my studiomdl batch file to compile the models broke or the gui I have for it broke. Lastly, is it possible XSI broke its export function thus it cant compile even a plain Cube at the moment? Thanks in advance.

Edit to add more info: the vvd is being created and appears where the rest of the things are, it seems to be read by the sdk model viewer fine last time I checked. Same error happens cross computers, while compiling the model on a different computer prooves no problems but once it gets on this pc it seems to have a problem. Tommorrow I'm going to boot up my old pc with the addon from this one to see if it can read the file fine. In meantime and ideas how this was caused and how to fix it? I havn't found much help to what causes it on google.

Rename the export file, instead of overwriting or copy and pasting the files.

Ensure when compiling you have the mdlviewer open (can cuase issue when closed).

Try exporting from XSI to SMD and then get 3DS Max (trial if you must) and imstall the SMD importer plugin. Import the SMD, see if it loads. If the SMD loads its not compiling right, if it doesn't, its XSI's fault.

If its not compiling right try a new QC file but keep things basic. Just put in idle, reference and no physics or anything and try it then.

Always save incrementally, so file_01, file_02, that way when something like this goes wrong you've got the old files you can go back to.

Good luck!

K currently trying the 3d studio max trial to see if its XSI, otherwise I will try the mdl viewer is there, but I never had problems with it not being open ever before, which is weird. Even my old computer. Is it possible to corrupt studiomdl due to it freezing and crashing mid compile once? (somehow it caused alot of crashes on this pc once, after which worked for a bit fine then this issue started.)

Okay I tried compiling the smd's with model viewer open but the same error is appearing, currently XSI seems to import the smd back fine, but idk, I'm thinking my copy of studiomdl batch file got messed up somewhere along hte line.

Currently trying the 3ds max demo thing.

Okay since I forgot I used the autodesk trial on this earlier in the year, I can't use it now -.-

Okay, no worries.

Back up any files you need, then from the Steam Tools menu remove/delete SourceSDK. Go into the directory and wipe it clean.

Re-download and install it. Don't forget to do a first run of Half-Life 2 before running the fresh SourceSDK install or it might fall over.

Seems it's happening on both pc's now, Will try re,reinstalling the sdk on my laptop, but in the meantime can anyone list reasons that the .vvd might not be able to be read, or can corrupt or error during compilation (While whenever I actually map thank god I don't get problems like these since at least in mapping I know what I did to cause things to go wrong.)

Apparently somehow my Qc happened to mess up by itself, so thanks for the help in fixing this problem.
