I was always a fan of Real-Time Strategy games, but I recently re-played Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots and if you remember it had a turn-based mode inbetween the campaigns and I really liked it this time, so I am asking if you have any good Turn-Based Strategy games on mind to suggest. I do not care if it's in an ancient, medieval, modern or fantasy universe or if it is old or new, just say the first decent TBS game that pops on your mind! Thanks in advange, Edited by: Thanoshld -- Creator of the Half Life 1 mod Deflections. |

Civilization games, definitely. Age of Wonders. Disciples. |

All three of them look very interesting! I'll find their demos somewhere so I can decide which one to buy. Thanks feillyne! -- Creator of the Half Life 1 mod Deflections. |

Also Heroes of Might and Magic III, particularly the third installment with its expansions. It features 9 unique factions. |

The Total War games (Medieval 2 was great) have a very strong turn based game element. |

Googling for games returns a plethera of results, most of which are not worth the bytes they occupy, and searching through them can waste a good deal of time. Asking a community of people you trust, however, is likely to give good results and narrow down the search incredibly. On topic, I would also recommend any Civilization game, as well as Alpha Centauri. Edited by: lancer611 -- Controlling complexity is the essence of computer programming. --Brian Kernigan |

I agree with lancer611, searching for a good game in a category that you don't actually know can really be a waste of time because there are literary hundred of "TOP 10 TBS" lists out there and most of them are totally different or even irrelevant. Thanks everyone for your input! Much appreciated! -- Creator of the Half Life 1 mod Deflections. |

If we're mentioning board games, I could list off tons: Settlers of Catan (plus Cities and Knights, and Seafarers expansions) to name the best few. Edited by: lancer611 -- Controlling complexity is the essence of computer programming. --Brian Kernigan |

Oh, recommending Alpha Centauri as well, it's Civilization in a sci-fi universe, in space. Or even better, you can buy Civilization IV and get Planetfall mod for Civilization IV, Planetfall is a total conversion completely modelled after Alpha Centauri: Moddb.com |

To be very honest i'm also a grizzled RTS gamer and most these TBS im personally not a fan of. Edited by: Fully-Metal |
