Hello. I am president of an indie game development company, EkIchiGames. We are currently working on a commercial game (GML for prototype, C++ for full version). It is a sci-fi/fantasy RPG inspired by the Star Ocean series. I manage the entire team as well as lead the 2D art department, create all 2D sprites, and help write the entire outline and script. So I am an active president, for sure.

We have very dedicated individuals working on this game, but require a SERIOUS 3D modeler (there is room for a few) only. So far the 3D guys have promised work, then backed out exactly when they are needed. 3D modelers will be paid out of game sales just as the other workers.

I am very lienient with modelers and artists, allowing them to explore their full creativity on the job. Any experience level is accepted pretty much, just as long as you stay active and work. I prefer work ethick over experience, as experience can be learned. This is a place to grow into, not a place made solely for professionals.

The game is 2.5D. The 3D environments will be used for maps on which professionally sprited characters will walk. Little to no animation is required, but I will make accomodations for those who wish to dive into such work. If you want more information on the tasks and game itself please e-mail me: cubia [at] epitaphttc [dot] com

You may also reply here and I will be sure to check up here as often as possible. Please, if you can, send some screenshots of models you have made if you want to join. I have enough room for 2-3 3D modelers and texturers.

Thank You for any Interest

I'm interested but I'm taken up writing a 15,000 word research essay on weapon designs in games and I'll be busy with it until the end of April.
Once that's out the way I'll be pretty much free (I'm waiting to hear back from a company about a job about an XBLA game job, but that's only 20 hours/week). Other than that, no jobs lined up.

If waiting isn't a problem I'll hit you up with my CV and will discuss it further. If you're looking for more immediate work, I'll have to pass ^^.

This line worries me, if they are dedicated why are they not producing the work they say... just my 2c

Also you may want to link to your studios site, other games you have made and released, aswell as the games website or any artwork you guys have done, to show what type of artistic style your aiming for.

Lastly being paid when the game is complete, most artists are paid a wage then get some commission on the games sales. what your saying is work for free, if we sell the game you will get paid.
Sadly many games don't get to the point where sales exceed publishing costs, so the artists then don't get much, its important to ensure the artists are compensated for there hardwork just as any employee.
Not to put a negative spin on things, just if your serious and offering money, artists and you alike need to take a realistic approach on compensation.

No, everyone there is working for free, sorry, until the game releases (even me and I do a large chunk of production). We're building our way up to becoming a registered game company to sell future games (the ones we have so far are small free games, this is our first sellable game), and we've decided to start just like said. We've got everyone we need minus a 3D modeler, however, one of the programmers do some small modeling, so I have him working on models as well and have me fixing up textures and whatnot until we get someone dedicated onto the 3D modeling team. The cost of the game is zero. It will be shareware most likely, and so far we have made evrything from scratch at 0 cost. As said, I'm really looking more for those who want experience and then get paid after a release than 'professionals' who require ridiculous pay and usually do nothing in return (I've had it happen).

Things are getting produced rather quickly, just not 3D. All 2D, script, programming, animations, musick, sound, etc. is covered and going speedily. Just 3D is all I need.

@ M@ty, there's always a position, later on or immediate. So whenever you get free, just say so.

If nobody likes the conditions and the way we play the pay game so far, I'm not interested in having them work. I'm mainly looking for REAL DEDICATED game designers who have a passion for games more than trying to quickly make a game for money. The game will sell itself when its done, the work needs to be driven by passion, not by expected compensation. That's all I'm saying. But there will be pay, period. That's just how it is. Strangely, most of the individuals working on the team and are dedicated ask that I please keep the money for the team itself. That's real dedication for a team right there. =) But really, I have no problems paying from sales to those that work. If you want some check up on my character and dedication, you can ask any of my team mates and they will tell you I'm the best "boss" they've ever had to work for, and wish to grow this team into a company for a career in the future.

I'm not expecting a miracle game right now, sorry, I'm a bit more realistic than this. But this project is great for learning and making a few extra bucks on the side, or at least a finshed game (and it will be finished) that inspires others and really showcases everyone's skill. That's all. I hope that clears up some things now.

For musick samples and other artwork (both fanmade and official), you can visit the youtube channel I host our songs on...and yes, its an original score, and we've been making some money from it (because he's gotten pretty popular for his musick tracks):

Still looking forward to any interest. Thanks.

I call foul if I think you can down-call professionals as lazy bastards taking the money and delivering nothing. Professionals have to deliver results or else they won't stay employed for long. I also ought to claim that there are much more semi-professionals out there ( including modders, and this comes now from my experience ) which are lazy and turn MIA when they are needed than professionals who do this for a living.

Without providing much more information on the game, you can hardly expect game designers to be passionate about your idea's.

I think people are taking my comments the wrong way. What I'm saying is I don't NEED professionals (and what I mean by that is what I usually get, which is people saying 'oh I have 15 years of experience in said program' and then cannot even turn up one tree even after payment). I need someone who will work. I'm saying that from experience I had people I was paying who did lots less than those who simply have a desire to make games and don't worry about money at all, yet may not be up to par than those who claim to be 'professional'. That's all. I prefer work ethick > so called 'experience'. People can get better at modeling/texturing with time. And I expect them to grow a bit with learning from this experience.

A bit about the game. It's a sci-fi/fantasy RPG. I'll paste a bit here about it if you want details, but it seems when I do post, people think I'm just a wall of text-spam and won't read it.

Team Name: EkIchiGames
Game Name: SpherEternity: Fallen Angels
Engine: Prototype - Game Maker/ Future Goal - C++ and OGRE (actual engine under construction)
Genre: Sci-fi/Fantasy RPG
Long Term Goal: A beefed up commercial release + an MMORPG stemming from the series

SpherEternity was projected to be a fangame prequel to the Star Ocean series, more specifically Star Ocean: The Second Story, telling the history of 'God's Ten Wise Men' and how they came to be, while adding a fresh and original storyline to the mix. As time progresses, we deviated more and more away from Star Ocean's universe until SpherEternity developed a living, breathing world all to its own. However, some elements are simply Star Ocean-esque, from the fast paced full-action battle system to the emotion levels that affect the multiple game endings.

Planned To Have (under works)

+ A plethora of quality anime cutscenes to enhance the adventure
+ Animated face sets and voice overs
+ Full action battle system with spells and summons/transformations
+ Private Action system as seen in Star Ocean
+ Multiple game endings
+ Character emotional levels (that can actually go into the negative)
+ Up to 19 playable characters overall
+ Beautifully rendered 2.5D and 3D environments with top notch sprite animations
+ Skill system - cooking, blacksmithing, drawing, writing, even dancing skills
+ A unique card game and other mini games including Dance Dance, a racing game, and a space shooter sim
+ Over 70 + hours of gameplay over an epic storyline with multiple twists and excellent replayability

Introduction to Characters/Plot:
(these are just a few of the characters whom you will meet during the adventure)

+ Kayci Arpegglo: A brash, young female pilot who works under her best friend and captain, Ignitious Adam, in order to quell uprisings from Anti-federation forces in remote regions of space. During one of her missions, she makes a daring move which costs her dearly: her ship malfunctions and she is sent spiralling through a wormhole 3.5 billion years into the past. Landing on planet Nohde, which in her time had already been destroyed by mysterious circumstances, she meets quiet Nohdain college student Indecelio Host, and with him strives to find a way back to her time and space. Kayci has a bit of an attitude, loves to fight her way out of situations, and weilds axes as her weapon of choice. She is one of the choosable characters at the game start.

+ Indecelio Host: Indecelio is of the Nohdain race, hailing from planet Nohde 3.5 billion years back from Kayci's time. He is a very bright student attending college in his home city, Centra City. After class one day he witnesses the coming of Kayci Arpegglo, who crash lands in his favourite rsting spot, The Outer Gardens. After meeting her, he is intrigued by her story and vows to help her along until she finds a way back to her era. Indecelio is a deep thinker who constantly studies various points of Astra Arts, the magick power lended to the people of his time by the spirits of the planet. He posesses an arsenal of powerful spells, and the ability to heal wounds with light from his fingertips, a power only known and possessed by the most gifted of the Nohdain race.

+ Beryl Zeedan: A strong member of the Nohdain Defense Unit, Beryl always holds within himself a sense of justice. As the Indygo forces rebel against Nohdain government, he prides himself with the army of Nohde to strike down the opposition. A man of tactic and strength, he is revered as one of the best of his team, though he accepts the praise with utmost maturity. Despite his guardian disposition, Beryl is shy when it comes to the topic of love, and blushes at every small compliment from the opposite sex. He carries around dual shields which he uses against his enemy.

+ Alkasirn: Alkasirn is a high officer of the Indygo forces that have been uprising against Nohdain rule. He is confident and self-centered, but has the skills to back up his haughty claims. He always talks about the 'sins of the Nohdain', to which none of the heros seem to understand. Beryl is paticulary interested in taking Alkasirn down, as Alkasirn himself has slain many of the members of the Defense Unit using his powerful Astra Energies, extensions of his spirit that can copy and perform the attacks of his enemies.

+ Kujiforo Euphoria: On one of the continents lies a city which exists in everlasting joviality. This place is called AmusementLand, and many Nohdain peoples travel here to get away from th strain of everyday life. Kujiforo works at this carnival as a lithe and very agile dancer. After the team witnesses his powerful and daring performance, he feels thoroughly happy in their presence and joins them in the journey. It seems he has another agenda as to why he wishes to join the travels...a young warrior named Marcell Ian. Kujiforo is always smiling and trying to bring a bit of brightness to the group. In battle, he never lets his friend's down, using his laser rings as a means of long-range warfare.

+ Hanz Daemons: A renowned sorceress, Hanz Daemons has the ability to speak with and control the guardian forces of the planet using her grimoire. The party stumbles upon her in a snowy forest, where she saves their lives from a gigantic beast. Awed by her abilities, the group is surprised to learn that Hanz is on a mission to purify her soul. Though she is a bit mysterious, Hanz is a great addition to any party, having a very strong natured attitude with overlaying motherly instincts.

(these are nowhere near all of the characters introduced into the game. players will seek out more characters, getting further intertwined into more separate destinies, all combined in one accord.)

The plot is simply about Kayci trying to find her way back to her time, with the war between factions and Nohde as the other wheel. However, the plot takes a huge twist and suddenly the story becomes more urgent and epic, as Kayci finds out just who she really is and the powers of ten angels all converge within the souls of the 'Ten Holy Savants' to save the universe from utter chaos.

What else would you like to know. And yes, we do have experienced animators on the team to make animated cutscenes. It'd be nice if we could have a 3d modeler who can perhaps add a bit of 3D to that mix as well.

We may have found our 3D modeler. This is on hold, for now.

Thanks!
