I just played the mod and it's awesome. But it's pretty obvious you used sparklers for creating the sparks that occur when shooting a wall or pipe. :D
That was amazing! Great animations, great models, great lighting, great atmosphere, great mapping and great gameplay. It was perfect. It didn't feel like HL2 at all, much more like HL1 which is much better! The massive amount of new models is wonderful and makes the areas feel totally new!
10/10!
One thing I did notice though was a few things about the weapons that needs tweaking; the difficulty of using Ironsights, how overpowered the shotgun is, the sounds sound a litttle strange.
I think I might replay it today. :D
I really enjoyed how underpowered the MP5 was. It made me feel like Gordon from Freeman's Mind.
I have finished the demo and i can say that this is pretty good mod for SP but a bit hard when you play on hard difficult, That was very to see a Single player mod!! Hope to see another texture for some weapons because it looks a lot with some other mods.
Hurdur, that's why its called hard mode. Otherwise it wouldn't be hard now, would it?

Darn it. It seems to crash for me two seconds into the opening vid.

Really nice work, great models, recreated the feel and look of HL1 really well while keeping it looking and playing like a modern fps, good combat scenarios, nice flow to the level design, can't wait for this.
Loved the Demo. Only problem were the houndeyes. They were insanely hard to kill...

Mini review P1:
Now I'm sure I'm not alone (infact I seem to remember reading a study that infact confirmed that most players prefer right hand turns) in choosing first to turn right after spawning whereupon two houndeyes spawned and promptly murdered me into a fine paste well before I could punch them to death. On a subsequent playthrough I then discovered I was supposed to go left.. into the light but against the natural instinct to go right, keep in mind that players that like to explore will often go for paths that don't look like they are the way to the exit first... although infact the dark section was where I was supposed to go... just not yet. A padlock or an explosive barrel out of punching distance would have been an easy way to make sure the player has a weapon first.
Eventually I came upon the grunts... and then exploded. Yep. Twice even, after having preemptively moved out of the way of the first explosion. I'm going to assume they threw grenades at me... but I sure didn't see or hear them. Ever heard of giving a proper warning? How about making them not be an instant kill? Even games where you die very quickly like Call of Duty have good indications about when you're going to get blown up.
The fight between the aliens and the vortigaunts in the garage caused a huge lag spike at one point, and I have a good enough computer for that to be an issue with the coders of the mod. It also felt odd that the grunts were more concerned about me than the evil teleporting space aliens from another dimension... when the aliens were nearer too. It was also at this point that I found the vortigaunts electrical attacks hitting me even if I'd ducked behind cover momentarily.
Eventually after god moding past some very hard to pistol-to-death grunts I make it to the finish but not after having seen lots of "distorting gas". In the vanilla HL2 experience "distorting gas" can be ignited burn zombies to death. This would have been a really nice way to finish off the two grunts at the sewer's exit and a lot easier to achieve with only pistol ammo and half-health (or should that be half-life :P).
Doors:
The first chain link gate you encounter opens, the second does not. Most of the sliding metal doors you encounter open some do not. The first blast door can be opened with a switch, the second cannot. Locks, chains, accessed denied sounds and sparks are all simple ways of providing a logical reason as to why my passage was being barred... as it is however the game just seems to have wanted to be an ***.
Misc:
The flashlight is just plain broken... often it doesnt illuminate things if you're close enough and often turns into a square.
All those duracell batteries... it feels kinda cheap not letting me take them for suit battery power (even if its a miniscule amount).
its not bad so get your mod finsih soon as possible because when black mesa source gonna come your mod gonna be forget .. i try the demo GREAT JOB .. so where we are in the demo .. waht palce is it in the black mesa complex ???
This is ******* incredible!!!! when i played it i had that Half life feeling that i love!!
When turning quickly with some of the weapons, you can see the end of the arms.
Game will need some weapon balancing. Even on normal, it was challenging to say the least.
