The installer does not appear to be creating gmdx.exe. From what I can see, the other files are there, but the shortcut simply reports that gmdx.exe cannot be found. It's nowhere in the deus directory or any of its sub directories.
Thanks for the suggestion, but no luck. No GMDX changes are on character creation, and I can't get past the intro sequence without a missing package error. This was with a clean install of the GOG version of the game, with the v1.112fm patch applied before the GMDX installer was run.
Maybe I'm missing something, but unfortunately I'm unable to find HDTP options inside GMDX menu. HDTP is seemed to be enabled by default except for characters' models such as JC, Anna, UNATCO & NSF troops etc., which don't work. Any idea how can I turn all HDTP models to be enabled, especially if there is no such option in the menu?
HDTP's human models were intentionally disabled because they caused problems with features, like the helmets being shot off or facial differences between guards and such.
I'm having a huge issue. A lot of features are entirely missing, like the stealth tree and perks (every perk), along with secondary weapons, and the option to double click to put away your weapon.
For anyone having the same issue I was, you need to go into the gmdx/system folder and take the gmdx.ini, rename it to deusex.ini and replace the deusex.ini in the deusex/system folder with the new one you just renamed. This is not in the guide.
This is not necessary. I had similar problems (using Wineskin on OS X). I then inspected the .lnk-files (Windows shortcuts) to discover that GMDX.exe needs additional EXE flags to boot up GMDX correctly.
For Windows these flags were:
INI=..\GMDX\System\gmdx.ini USERINI=..\GMDX\System\GMDXUser.ini log=..\GMDX\System\gmdx.log
…but for my Wine usecase this worked:
INI=C:/DeusEx/GMDX/System/gmdx.ini USERINI=C:/DeusEx/GMDX/System/GMDXUser.ini LOG=C:/DeusEx/GMDX/System/gmdx.log
(for anyone looking for the same answers as I did)
Every time I try and run GMDX I get an Application error, "Failed to find Steam.".
Followed installation instructions, Steam is running, even tried running GMDX.exe as administrator and adding it as a non-Steam game. No dice.
I get the same error if I try and run Deus Ex directly from the game folder instead of launching it through Steam (which works perfectly).
Tried renaming GMDX.exe to DeusEx.exe and launching through Steam normally but then 400+ processes all named DeusEx.exe start popping up (so many that it's impossible to close them all).
Found a fix.
Even though the Steam version is updated to the required version go here: Moddb.com and install the patch over the Steam version. After doing so it works.
Team GMDX you've done an incredible amount of work, thank you!
But I do have one question. Is it possible to run this mod along with the HDTP? It would be perfect if it is, because models and textures in HDTP are just insanely awesome. And being able to combine them with your modifications would be huge.
I did as you said, but new HDTP characters models did not appear...
I have another following question: any chance to unlock hardcore diff level instantly? dont want to go through the whole game another time just to unlock hardcore.
All users should follow the v8.0 installation guide: Moddb.com

Found a fix: use Kenties launcher (Deus Exe); after this, GMDX works just fine

-Make sure your antivirus isn't blocking the exe
-Try running as admin
-All else fails consider using Kentie's Launcher
So far even with Kentie's Launcher still getting the missing package error. Gonna Reinstall it once I redownload it.
Finally, Downloading.
Woooo!!! its Deux Ex night baby!
Thank you so much for your hard work, this mod looks awesome from the videos,
Thanks Again :)
Happy holidays.
It's out now? Oh my..
All I can say is that you've done an incredible job with GMDX!
Now if this will become open-source someday, people will be making mods based off of your mod (custom campaigns etc.).
GMDX will go open source if there is enough interest to justify the effort on my part.
Now I'm torn between starting this or finishing Revision arggghhh!
Go with GMDX. Better gameplay changes.
Both mods have New Vision and HDTP.
Only reason to play Revision is different map looks.
GMDX changes map looks too, although not to the scale of Revision. The focus is more in polishing what is already there.
Go with this. I've played a bit of it, it's actually refreshing with all the new mechanics and subtle yet effective world building details.
Which is more than I could ever say for Revision. I won't go into detail about it here though.
Refreshing is just what I need thanks. Personally I loved Revision, but GMDX certainly looks like it's taken Deus Ex to a whole new level.
Download link doesn't work :(((
Thanks for the mod.
I tested the test version and so far I found nothing.
Will start again imminently.
Hooo boy, christmas came early this year.
...now we're cooking with GAS!
I downloaded v8 but I am unable to start it, I have the gog version.
nvm
Did you fix it by running through Kentie's EXE or what?
You have to select the "Run as Administrator" option that shows up while right clicking the shortcut.
Kenties launcher
I'm on Linux w/ WINE here so no Admin tricks, but yeah Kentie's works great, while running the normal EXE just exits without notice.
Maybe I'm missing something, but unfortunately I'm unable to find HDTP options inside GMDX menu. HDTP's human models were intentionally disabled because they caused problems with features, like the helmets being shot off or facial differences between guards and such.
More because they were a mixed bag in quality, but yeah that too.

I followed it perfectly, using the steam version and the gog version. Both are screwed.

Not the .exe, the .ini.
If the .exe wont launch:

Is there any way to get mod without HDTP? Those models are totally creepy
Nope, but don't worry as GMDX doesn't have the HDTP character models even as an option. They are outright disabled.
hi,
does it work with revision mod?
No.
The file you have selected (GMDXv8_Setup.exe) is not available via any mirrors.
Alternate Mirror: Genericname112.wix.com
Is there any way to increase the size of the UI? I'm playing in 1920x1080 and the interface/menus are incredibly small.
Enable UI scaling via config files.
Team GMDX you've done an incredible amount of work, thank you!

Download GMDX v8 FULL, it comes with both HDTP & New Vision.
I did as you said, but new HDTP characters models did not appear...
I have another following question: any chance to unlock hardcore diff level instantly? dont want to go through the whole game another time just to unlock hardcore.
HDTP characters are outright removed for a variety of reasons.
Hardcore can be unlocked without completing the game. Check the installation guide.
