This Tutorial will teach you how to Install Wars of Liberty into your Age of Empires 3.

If you play on a UNIX like OS (like Mac OS or Linux) Read Here on how to install the mod
What you need:
- The Installer (Click here)
- The updater (Click here for Windows updater)
- In order to use the latest updater, you need to have the Java Runtime Environment installed in your PC. You can download it here in Java.com
Pre-Install
- If you have saved cities/have played Age of Empires 3 on the current computer you're installing the mod on
i) go to "....\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\" copy and put the 'savegame' folder in a safe place
ii) then to to "...\Documents\My Games\" and delete the 'Age of Empires 3' folder - If you have had Throne Room installed, you want to uninstall it, and delete the throne room folder and Wars of Liberty folder it created in your Age of Empires 3 directory.
- Install/reinstall Age of Empires 3 (a fresh install is recommend to minimize any mod installation errors)(HIGHLY RECOMMEND)
- After game installation, startup 'Age of Empires 3, then war-chiefs and then The Asian dynasties'.
- Each time you run the game edit some setting to your liking
- Exit the game. Then continue to the installation
Installation
- Run the installer
- A window will appear asking if you want to install WOL in to the detected directory or if you will like to install it into another directory (the install will automatically copy the aoe3 files over to the directory of your choice)
- Follow the installers intructions
- Once finished installing run the updater to check for any new available update
Post install (optional)
- Get the "savegame" folder that you saved earlier
- Move it back to "....\Documents\My Games\Age of Empires 3\"
- If you want to play with your vanilla game cities on War of Liberty you can also move it to "....\Documents\My Games\Wars of Liberty\"
- Add as a non-steam game on steam, to play Wars of Liberty via steam
- Get the Building Rotation mini-mod (optional) Here
...and that's all! Enjoy Wars of Liberty!

Is Patch 1.01 a patch, or does it also include the game, because when I installed just 1.01 from the link above, there were errors everywhere.
Its just ampatch that you have to install in to the game, follow the tutorial carefully
i dont have it on steam. what do i do then?

Hey i own age 3 on steam and i installed the mod, but when i launch the mod it asks for the cd key and my steam cd key doesnt work wtf ?!

Thats weird, did you make sure that you ran the game before the installation? becuase it will register things aswell as install anything need for the game.
And to uninstall it? I guess we'd have to delete everything right?

Hey I followed the tutorial guide to install and update the game and completed everything but when I went to play the game it has an error that says the MSXML 4.0 is not installed correctly. PLEASE help me with this problem. Thanks

Whats with all the errors when starting the mod it shows me there are .dll files missing what should i do? Idid all the steps right please fix the errors. :(
Did you run tbw game prior the install? Or you installed the kod to the wronf folder

in the bin do i copy everything into the wars of liberty folder?
also when do i install wars of liberty itsself do i do it before i copy the files or after?

Hey, when I try to start the game it says "Initialization failed" Help?
I downloaded everything but in the new patch (1.0.08)it says:
"We strongly recommend deleting all of the .personality files in [Windows User Name]\Documents\My Games\Wars of Liberty\AI3 in order to ensure proper functionality."
I only have the AOE3 folder in this location. The only place WOL shows up is the desktop icon and Steam > steamapps > common > Age Of Empires 3 > Wars Of Liberty. The game ran after the installation but if I don't have the above mentioned folder, will the AIs not function? If so, is there a way I can fix this?

Also, started playing as Zulu against British and it randomly crashes on skirmish after about 4 minutes.
Update - Folder now shows up. However, nothing in AI3 shows up. Should I just delete this entire folder? I have view hidden files on and still it says nothing is there
cool, well no need to delete it since it was a fresh install, and nothing is inside it. but in future patches its best if you do delete it. also read the bottom of the tutorial about AI

The link of the rotation mod doesn't exist.
Did anyone find a solution to when the mod asks for a Serial Code when you try to start the game?
(tried everything, run vanilla, deleted savegames, uninstalled game and installed clean...)

If its for steam you can find your cd key in the steam menu

hey, i just downloaded the mod and finished the installing but it asks me for cd key which i don't i have. and i opened the others as well tried again didn't work out for me. any help?
