Greetings Warsword Conquest fans
First of all I would like to apologise for the delayed release since the summer and also for the vagueness on the message board in recent months about what is happening and when the release will be. A special mention to Polloio for the help and dedication he gives here and on the forums, especially during the times we were both away and there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding the mod.
Del and I have been creating warsword since 2010 with the first M & B edition and our development cycle has always been in bursts, usually 3 - 6 months of intense work followed by 6 months+ of not working on it at all. In the earlier years we could get an incredible amount of work done in a short period of time but in recent years family and work commitments have made it difficult to find the time to put in the usual levels of productivity and the long breaks were getting more frequent.
Del in particular has found it hard to find the time to mod and has been out of contact for large periods of the last 2 years. As a consequence he has decided to step down as mod leader although he will remain on the team to help whenever he can find the time. As someone who has enjoyed working with him immensely for the last 6 years, it is a shame that his time will be so limited and it will be a big loss to the mod and team in general. Hopefully he will be able to find some time in the coming year and we will be able to add some more of his great content in coming updates.
Also in recent weeks Gsanders has joined the team. He has experience in modding for perisno, phosphor and rigale mods for warband and he has has greatly increased the feature side of warsword both for this release and for the future. He has, for example, completely reworked the trading and economic system from top to bottom and has been adding a lot of other features in including some which players have really wanted like an in game troop tree viewer.
Where we are now
We have managed to achieve everything we aimed for in the summer update ( bar chaos dwarf and skink as playable race and a tweaked diplomacy is planned for the next update) and thankfully a lot more as well including many more new scenes than we thought we would get in thanks to the sterling work by JargonDarot and Captain Melon.
We have done a lot we never planned in the last 6 weeks and every week new plans are made and I realised that at this rate we will end up continually developing and never releasing so I have decided that we will release an update now and another one in probably Q2. This will give us the opportunity to enhance certain features and complete new features we have been working on without the need for speed and it will allow us to fix any issues which may arise with the first update.
I have been sent all the content which is going into this version and I am currently merging it together and then the team will do some testing and then I will release. I have not been willing to give a release date as I am wary after what happened before and I don't want to let players down again. I will wait until I am 100% sure but I can say it really is soon, I hope to have final testing taking place next weekend and if all goes well it will be a matter of days.
So watch this space and I will post up a changelog either just before or as we release.
