Red Alert 20XX - New Logo news

Hey fellow commanders,

Red Alert 20XX finally have a professionnal looking logo, curtesy of Yamanekoayf, which I can't thank enough. Just look at that :

But also, I'd like to take this opportunity to present where version 1.0.5 is at now, development-wise, and showcase the last new addition to the Russian arsenal.

So, where is version 1.0.5 of the mod? After I finished version 1.0.4, I was persuaded that 1.0.5 would be a quick update to make. It wasn't. But good news, right now, it is about 75-80% done, with the changelog having over 75 new additions, from units to bugfixes. Expect one or two new units, some more new Allied buildings, Phobos implementation, a new skirmish AI and bugfixes.

One thing I really wanted to add was challenge mode, but this will be in later updates, because I really want to flesh out the base experience before going into those. But I do plan on releasing those individual challenges as small updates, with some menial changes here and there, mod-wise.

Also, more intestingly, I've officially started to commission artist for the third side. Most of my concepts for it are done and I really look forward to officially start adding it in-game. Exciting stuff!

On this Moddb page, I've already showcased at least one of the added unit/building for each country.

The USA has the Jupiter Cannon (seen here).

The European Union has the Castello Skyshield (seen here).

The Pacific Shogunate has the Divine Wind Bomber (seen here).

The Eastern Republic has the Sunstorm ICBM (seen here).

...And China has the Gattling Tank (seen here).

But what about Russia? Well, Russia has developped a profound interest in the weaponization of the Iron Curtain technology. And since the country is losing influence within - and outside - the Soviet Union because of China, Russian leadership really want to keep projecting its power around the globe, as the rightful figurehead of the communist world... and that, whatever the cost.

The Doomsday Device is the result of years of research in the Iron Particle field of study. Iron Curtain technology can be absolutely powerful, but also very unstable. The Doomsday Device can conjure an Iron Particle Storm, called the Iron Sky, on a designated target. Once started, the storm will immerse the zone with Iron Curtain effect, and leave particles anomalies on the ground. The latter will damage everything over time, but it is hard to tell which zone will be struck, making the superweapon unpredictable. However, the effect of the Iron Curtain means that a commander can order it's vehicle division to enter the Iron Sky storm to gain invulnerability for a few second, and do as much damage as possible before the effect dissipate. However, enemy vehicle will also gain this effect, so the Russian commander must plan carefuly...

When I started Red Alert 20XX, I didn't even planned to release it publicly. A few years later, and I have made a mod I never thought I was capable to make. However, even as I am the main developper, Red Alert 20XX is hardly the work of a single person. I am astounded that so many people not only downloaded the mod, but also wanted to contribute to it and wanted to help me making it what it is now. People from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Ukraine, Singapore, Russia, Australia, the US, Peru, Spain, Thailand and more contributed as artist, feedback givers or ini dogs. And for that, I want to thank everyone of you.
