The open source Zircon engine ("DarkPlaces Mark V Project") is a modification DarkPlaces engine with a mouse driven menu everywhere, ALT-ENTER fullscreen/windowed switching and 88 other enhancements to support user/mapper/mod coder ease-of-use and optional conveniences for those interested in a "1996 Quake" experience. "csqc_full_width_height 1" in console when running Arcane Dimensions at this time It is hoped that some/many/all of these enhancements will eventually make it into official DarkPlaces. The Zircon engine seeks to keep full compatibility with DarkPlaces so either engine can be used interchangeably.
Fence texture .mdl model support, support for precaching .lmp files in QuakeC -- both relate to Arcane Dimensions. r_minlight 0.5 (default) -- a minimum amount of light all models must receive to prevent pitch black players and monsters (set to 0 for DarkPlaces normal). Menu touchups. Crosshair color defaults gray. Windows ALT-TAB/minimize could on rare occasions lose the OpenGL Window, changes made that seem to solve that.
Amazing!
First off this looks fantastic. 2 it loads quicker and is more responsive than darkplaces. 3 it seems to more faithfully show colors correctly for my custom textures, especially purple and pinkish colors. (this was literally driving me insane with darkplaces.)
Some textures in places show blocky areas when RT lights on. I will try other formats than my usual jpg, but for now is there a way to adjust RT light intensity?
Correction: I see the video settings are still available, sorry to bug you!
Playing with the number 5 high quality graphics if I tone down realtime lights, glow, and ambient lighting there areno more annoying effects, this is freaking awesome. Thank you so much!
