oh hell yeah... i'm neraly hoping that the new movies wil suck and don't make much money (unlikely thanks to the name "Star Wars" in the title) so that Disney will choke on bad critics, hate mails/Letters and shitstorms... and end like that https://youtu.be/5tSa3xLVYgM?t=25s

Appology accepted... Captain Needa

So tell me, after you wished death uppon everyone who works at disney.

Since when did they start making bad movies exactly?
Because if I recall correctly since 1937 they've made some epic stuff, and yet people keep (continuesly, with no actual reason) bitching about the new star wars movies.

I do not understand all you illogical people. Think before you say something, which you obviously did not. Disney makes great movies and star wars has a high chance of being awesome, especially with Abrahams directing it.

first of all i don't mean death and i don't wish death for them, i also mean it more in the sense of a ticking-off that might let them reconsider "maybe it wasn't such a great idea of throwing the whole EU out of the window and claim that the stuff we publish is the holy grail"
This part from an official Disney announcement sound for me extremly like "we are the messias of star wars!"
"Every novel, beginning with Star Wars: A New Dawn, will be a true part of official Star Wars continuity!"

i say nothing against the old Disney Movies, Jungle Book, Tarzan, Mulan and Lion King are some of my all time favorites... but many of the newer movies just couldn't capture me like that anymore

Jon Carter was a disney movie and aside from a predictable plot, it was pretty good with visual effects.

If Disney uses that type of animation, aliens will look much better, much better than Phantom Menace

considering a timespan of over 15 years between the movies i would be shocked if they wouldn't

I have complete faith in disneys ability, and J.J.Abrahams ability to make a great star wars movie together, and if you think that a massive co-operation like Disney gives any ***** about the opinion of one random guy on the internet you're sadly mistaken. Or a thousand random guys on the internet for that matter.

Disney hasn't disappointed (me) yet in any of their serious movies, Pirates was awesome, Price of Persia was fine, National treasure was good and that's not mentioning any of their drawn classics like Lion king. They know how to make a good movie and I wish people would put a little bit more faith in them.

btw Pirates... i was a little dissapointed with blackbeard (something that other guys think too)... when he first stepped on board badass entracne... and then? "I'm evil because i have to be the Badguy in the plot" and even that wasn't made really well i think... Barbossa was more badass with i think...

i just think i'd have more faith in disney if more or less the first thing they did woulnd't have been throwing the whole etablished canon out of the window and giving us this ""Every novel, beginning with Star Wars: A New Dawn, will be a true part of official Star Wars continuity!" the old stuff was canon to before they decided to start the whole stuff agian... why did we buy them first? Because it continued the SW Saga now they throw that out of the window, declare it as "never happened" and let you buy books again for stuff that you thought you knew allready

I have a lot of faith for the new star wars movies to be good movies all around and not just since they are star wars. I know a lot of people who are non Trekkie's, myself included, who think that the new star trek movies are cool and they were directed by J.J. Abrams. Hopefully they will create a lot more star wars fans and expand the community.

Considering his success with the new Star Trek films by, in his own words, making them more like Star Wars, I'd say he has a clue what works, haha.

but by star trek they didn't throw the whole etablished canon of the Original Series, TNG, Voyager and so on out of the window, the new movies were set as an "alternate universe prequels" and not "the stuff you saw and read back then never happened"

Please, der, you're fighting a losing battle. The new movies can be completely free from the "canon" of star wars and still be great movies.

If they are linked to the old canon, now non-canon or not stands completely free from the fact that a movie is good or not. Them throwing out cannon just induces a lot of nerd rage in people who are obviously now very butthurt with Disney, making deathwishes uppon them like you just did a few comments ago: "so that Disney will choke on bad critics, hate mails/Letters and shitstorms" and it completely shuts down their ability to think logically about the new movies. Stop with your blind hate and writing it down on the internet, it makes you sound really really dumb. I suggest thinking about what you're about to write first, it tends to result in better, if not smarter, comments.

Saw this discussion and felt I should share my opinions here. Disney hasn't disappointed in a while; Abrams made a good first Star Trek movie, but the second one wasn't that great IMO. That being said, I have no doubt that the new Star Wars film will be a good movie that will make a lot of money.

However, to me it will NOT be Star Wars. It will not be the Star Wars I and so many others here come to know and love. It will not be the world where everything was gray; where the war between the Empire and the New Republic showed us heroes and villains on both sides; where neither side was innocent. The new generation of Star Wars fans will not know or care about what came before. Gone will be Thrawn, Revan, and the Vong; replaced with Ashoka, Kannan, and the Inquisitor. That is what is truly saddening.

Let's face it: we are the final bastion of the EU. Interest in "Legends" will slowly dwindle until Disney can cease printing, and then the only Star Wars will be Disney's Star Wars.

Yes. We will have to do our best to preserve OUR EU. That's why we keep the books, the games, and mods. They will be artifacts of an old age. They will be better than anything anyone could dream up in the new age of Lore, but those that write the new ones will refuse to look upon it in any sensible manner.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Yes, JJTrek is set as an alternate universe existing after/before/alongside the other movies and TV shows - but the new SW films don't need to be set up in that manner because they are actually continuing (i.e. sequels to) the existing Star Wars movies/TV show canon.

With regard to novels/comics, in Trek all of the print media are completely disparate and separate from the movies and TV shows - they don't even have the concept of a coherent/consistent "Expanded Universe" so they had no need to take those stories account (although I believe the writers of the new movies did take certain elements from them).

The Star Wars EU is a very different animal, created and curated over a long period of time largely in sync with each other but still technically separate from the movies (G canon vs C canon, etc). Yes I agree that it's disappointing that Lucasfilm/Disney appear to be sweeping aside 20 years of (predominately) coherent stories; but that's their prerogative now that Lucas has handed over the reigns.

Speaking for myself, I'm still hoping that the new trilogy is set right after the Vong War (with Chewie having a Boba/Sarlacc-esque survival miracle) and they turn Legacy of the Force onwards into in-universe holo-dramas! ;)

Ripping up EU is our (Star Wars fans) main problem with the film, so to an extend we sort of find it irrelevant how good the film may or may not be :/

The main ship of the Bakuran Defense Fleet, the Namana was a small sized cruiser, lightly armored with strong array of weaponry. Relying on speed and shielding, the Namana was armed with 2 forward fixed heavy ion cannons which it used to incapacitate enemies after outflanking them. armed with 10 dual medium turbo lasers, and 6 forward fixed concussion missile launchers, the Namana was able to dish out a good deal of damage to vessels much larger in size. For anti-fighter defense, the Namana featured 2 rapid fire AA turrets and a rear mounted light dual laser turret. The Namana also featured 2 rocket barrage launchers located on its top wings, capable of obliterating entire squadrons by releasing vollies of diamong boron missiles.
