:/
I'd suggest you use a program like mudbox. Its easier to sculpt organic objects/ships/people in there than model them out by polygon. makes for a far more consistant model. Try it some time.

osodeadly: just a little bit..:) it´s "only" modified mc80 collision mesh - edited, deleted engines, noise and turbosmooth modifiers, bubbles were transformed and added.
Vaders_Legion: thanks for advice. honestly, it´s not great I know... however I want to show some progress and remember that the texture helps a lot. of course, I will add some details and this is not hte final version. what do you think about the worldship?

Ohhh. yeah, Turbosmooth modifier is bad business. Adds way too many polygons. Not to mention it kills the shape a bit. You know what, try this instead. Go to polygon, polygon properties, and then from there Select some polygons and press a smoothing group number. This will make it seem smoother without adding extra polys. If you want extra polys though, Do the same thing, and then when all your polys are inserted into proper groups, press the box by ms smooth, and do it by polygons. It'll come out far nicer :P

Your worldship came out great. The arms are integrated well into the main body, better than the one I made a few years ago lol.

yes, but the default mesh (collision) has just few polys so adding them wasn´t so unuseful in this case.

Did you contributed to the Legacy of War mod? I found some Vong models there but didn´t find the creator and the Worldship reminds me of that in your video...

Actually. That is the low model lol. I just had it for somereason and decided the main hull needed a redo. I salvaged the arms because i was too lazy to make it on my own back then.

I have some other vong stuff too that came from places i dont know. If you want to do some digging for who made them if you want permission, or need some sort of general guideline for your own models, I'll throw em at you. I feel like they either came from Low Or TR at some point.

By the way, the only person around from low anymore is z3r0x. If you want lows assets, he'd probably have them. Save yourself some work eh?

Hey vaders_Legion. First you sugest he use Mudbox, then you tell him turbosmooth is bad for the polycount. Don't you thing mudbox has a way higher polycount than using turbosmooth?
I agree that with this model smoothing groups will get almost the same result without adding polys.
Maybe you could turt the model around, make the back end the front ent to make it less MC-80.

I R BIPOLAR BEAR RAWR. But seriously lol. Mudbox is great for createing a high poly model with very controlled details, as opposed to turbosmooth just smoothing and smothering out details. Usually if i do a high poly model, I'll optimize it in max. Theres a nifty little function in there with vertecies that give it constraints to preserve the form of either the polygon or the edge it's on. Then you weld all verts. Works real well and fast vs target welding. You'll get down to your polycount real quick.

A Vong command ship and cruiser. You´re right-it resembles Mon Calamari Cruisers. But it should :)
