The scourge of pirate craft everywhere...
Made famous by the Corellians, the FTAAB is the fastest firing AA weapon available. It literally shreds fighter armor, yet is extremely hindered by shields. Good thing pirates cannot always afford shields generators... uglies watch out....
Most notably found on the DP20 frigate, which contains 6 of these, the FTAAB is a very sophisticated turret, allowing its gun barrels to elevate 120 degrees. This gives the FTAAB an advantage over standard 90 degree elevation archs which means it can keep pounding targets longer while tracking them.
All these turrets remind of WW2 naval turrets. They are sufficiently killtastic. Will there be different turret types for each faction (Vong not included because they are weird)?
Turrets are made by wholsale weapon manufactures and sold galaxy wide. Certain factions tend to buy particular turrets over others, such as Imperials preferring green laser turrets over red laser turrets, and Mandos preferring mass drivers over lasers, but this is mostly due to the availability and ammunition costs. So yes, the Imperials, Hutts and New Republic will all be sharing these turrets, but they won't be on every ship.

Just out of curiosity how do the vong kill in space as they hate technology
Essentially there is the equivalent of a volcano powerplant inside every vong ship, which are living coral and give off oxygen. Interiors of the vong ships are much softer and malleable, therefore the lava tubes can expand and contract, much like a lung, expelling lava at high velocities that become magma projectiles. The "lava" substance is highly explosive, and corrosive, which easily eats through durasteel armor.
While lasers do burn through coral hulls, they are not as deadly as they are at melting metal. This is why the Hutt fleet, armed primarily with mass drivers performed much better when fighting the Vong.
it sounds stupid, but it's not as bad as a certain other franchise. one of their ships uses an artificially-produced mini-black hole as a power supply.
at least the vong have the geo-thermal energy aspect going for it. I have no clue how a mini black hole can be used to generate power
Are you referring to the Romulans in Star Trek who use singularity drives?
