I have seen many different attempts and versions of Kuat, probably the best by our friends over at Freeworlds : Tides of War mod Moddb.com
This is a nice picture but I do not feel if is completly accurate. The Kuat Drive Yards were a series of stations and construction bays that 'almost' formed a complete ring. While the structure is ring shaped, I never liked the idea of it being an actual solid ring around the planet. This has given me an idea that I have spent the past few days working on...

From this ring the source of the Empire's symbol of oppression (imperial navy) was built. It is now the whole Galaxy's beacon of hope.
