The Xenoforce Reborn mod takes the classic Xenoforce mod from CNC Generals and re-invisions it on the CNC3 engine with new units and new designs. The new armies that are currently scheduled to be in the mod are the Earth Federation, ZEON, the Invid, and the Earth Robotech Defense Force. We also have heavily modified the original CNC3 armies, giving the GDI, NOD, and Scrin a much more dynamic gameplay experience. This mod is NOT FOR PROFIT and NON-commercial based.

We have toyed with the idea of adding Battletech/Mechwarrior into this mod a few times, I think that honestly the idea fits NOD better than any other force in the game. To me it just seems like something NOD would do, start developing those kinds of mechs. The Avatar could even be seen as the first in the evolutionary process into those future mechs.

I mean, our story for NOD was already going to introduce "houses" into the story with different "marks" given to the units to show which house / clan this faction of NOD sides with. It almost sounds mechwarrior like that.

I suggest making them a seperate faction =3. that's my preference.

either way having Battletech stuff sounds great.

yes, NOD fits.. more for the Clan MEchs, GDI can have the little IS Mechs.

A seperate faction would be very good..but..it had to be minimum 2Factions: Clan and InnerSphere...hmm
ahh details! just make it your way.

Might be a better idea to make that as a whole seperate MOD, and maybe import them into this one later. lol

Well, Nod already has 'houses' And more than just Black Hand and Marked of Kane. Each region of the globe is under the command of a member of the inner circle, each in charge of their own sub-faction within Nod. All of their followers and underlings swear allegiance to Kane first and their leader second. The reason why the Brotherhood fractures so easily is that Kane sort of becomes more of a concept than a person, and those people then decide that they obey their perception of what Kane stands for rather than Kane himself. Nod's tradition of ascension by assassination is only a motivational factor to keep commanders loyal, and tends to hurt the brotherhood when Kane goes off taking his occasional dirt naps courtesy of GDI's R&R(Rockets and Railguns) department.

I think you're better off introducing clans separately and keeping Nod and GDI true to Nod and GDI. Frankly, I think battletech wouldn't work so well with the C&C instant base dynamic(Just add credits!) They seem better suited to squad building style gameplay, like designating a landing zone, ordering mercs, and protecting your commander unit. Afterall, nobody bats an eye at the fact that Avatars can be mass produced and maintained as easily as standing next to a WF, where part of what makes battletech battletech is that you need to manage your mechs, pay your lance mates their dues, and repairs come out of your pocket.

Clans team up now and then, right? I'd say just give them one big faction and IS their own. Then you could have their structures come from orbital drop or something, and the units can be dropped off at a landing pad by a dropship, or they can just come out of one big ship that lands and acts like a war factory.

My final point to place on the chopping block, If Nod becomes the clans, why would they stop worshiping Tiberium based technology in favor of lasers and god emperors?

Nod isn't becoming the Clans. What I'm saying/showing here is that to me NOD's technology and the Technology in Battletech is very similar. Also the way that NOD is developing their mecha technology could easily flow into Battletech (I could see the Avatar in Battletech easy). And you are right, NOD already does have Houses. We're just trying to bring this out more in the game now with the 4 predominant houses now being options for the player to access inside of the game.

We're not going to TURN Nod into Battletech, we're going to take some of the ideas from battletech and implement them into NOD.

We actually were thinking at one point of adding Battletech into the Mod at a later date, after the other stuff was done if we were not tired of working on it and didn't want to start work on a different project. I can see Battletech in CNC pretty easily.

As for stop worshiping Tiberium in favor of lasers and god emperors, um.... Nod already uses Lasers heavily and what would you call Kane? The guys psyco in his ideals, he's tried to take over the world 3 times already, and he is constantly resurrecting himself like some sort of "god". I think his character is delusional but that may be just me.

And keeping NOD and GDI true to NOD and GDI thats kind of hard to do. GDI in our story has lost so much footing that they have to adapt and change or be devoured and NOD has to adapt to survive after the Firestorm Crisis or become irrelevant to other world events. To me GDI is not a "good guy" any more than NOD is a "bad guy" and vice versa, they are simply different schools of thought that have different beliefs and opinions and different morals on what is considered an "expectable" loss to have the "ends justify the means".

Alright, I didn't quite get the plan the first run through it.

As for Kane, well, he backs up his 'crazy' with results, but I guess you don't figure that out unless you can stomach all of C&C 4. Up until that point nobody knows what he's up to and there aren't any real clues. Also, it's 4 attempts if you count the firestorm incident, seeing as he was in control of CABAL the whole time. Now there's a dead horse of a faction that hasn't been beaten enough yet, eh?

Personally, I favor Nod's playstyle with early game harrasment, stealth, and late game pounding, and ultimately the only thing that matters to me is the preservation of that ability. I know some people like them just for aesthetic or plot reasons, I like those too, but you know, glowing tread hubs do not a stealth tank make.

I can tell you're pretty with it on the ethics and doctrine of each faction and I've just had a feeling since I started watching this that they were somehow gonna see a big change(Aside from units) in order to compensate for the relative disarray caused by the addition of that many other factions. Your post has put me at ease however.

Battletech seems a decent fit for RTS gameplay, and I'd like to see it done, my only foreseeable issue with it is that it might be confusing if you have two madcats on different teams, but the fact that they don't really look too similar in profile probably makes it work out.

Yea, I'm sure you can tell where I got my inspiration for this thing from. The beautiful thing about this design is based on any upgrades the over the shoulder weapons can be swapped out with other types. Right now it has 16 long range tube rockets and two medium range laser cannons (one on each arm) making it quite powerful long range and able to deal with enemies once they get close.

I will post up other pics as Doug tells me what weapon loadouts he's looking for from this.
