Barney meets former Black Mesa Viking Ivan Freeman, distant relative of George Freeman, distant relative of Gordon Freeman. They develop a portal to send Ivan back in time, all the way back to the Resonance Cascade, so Ivan can change what happened back then, and maybe, just maybe, the future will be a lot better than it turned out to be.
However, due to malfunctions in the teleporter, some people and things appear deformed, unlike how it really was, back then.
