War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. The Nogrod archers are a highly esteemed corps of any Nogrod host for it is they that must weaken the foe, before the lines collide. Although they are not as skilled as the Sindar, who suffer few rivals in the wielding of the bow, the Firebeard archers are farsighted, sharp-eyed and well trained. From afar they loose arrows, their short bows made of fine wood from the slopes of the mountains, their darts piercing the flesh of the orcs from afar. Although they bear less armour than any others, the Firebeard archers do not go to the field of battle unprotected, and in light linked-Dwarf-mail they are clad, sturdy and well crafted as anything of Naugrim-make is. Upon their fire-wreathed heads, they wear the short helm-caps of the Dwarven folk, made of iron, able to turn aside many a blow before being rent apart.
