War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. So if you're one of the many who have been enthralled by Tolkien's mystical world, this is a mod to watch!

Greatest of all craftsmen and smiths was Feanor, in whom burned brightly a restless and crafting spirit. He fashioned in the West, in Valinor, the Silmarils, gems of beauty unparalleled that even the words of Elves would be incapable of capturing. Great joy with this creation did Feanor bring for all, however the Silmarils led to great destruction and brought woe unmeasured to the Undying Shores, and by a foe once thought friend, the Silmarils were seized and taken.

Feanor and his Sons swore an oath to reclaim these jewels, and they riled the Noldorin kindred into open rebellion against the representatives of their divine creator and led the Noldor into darkness, and into the East where befell many a wicked deed in the quest to find the Silmarils.

The Feanorian nobles are those who are most akin to Feanor in demeanour for they are of fiery mood and brave and wrathful. No fear do these warriors know, and they bear proudly into battle the device of Feanor; the Star and the Silmarils, and even against Balrogs do they not shirk but stand and fight, when few others have heart to do so. In the hues of the House of Feanor they are arrayed: red cloaks and silver shields, helms and hauberks and they are skilled in the usage of all arms, but especially in the usage of the sword, and they are feared by all races for their skill at arms and few stand in their way.
