War of the Silmarils is a sub-mod of Third Age: Total War, the ever popular total conversion for Medieval II: Total War Kingdoms. The goal is to follow the lore as closely as possible and faithfully reproduce the heroic First Age of Tolkien's Middle-earth in the Medieval II: Total War engine. War of the Silmarils features many new unique factions, each complete with a roster of units, a completely new campaign map of Beleriand and the lands to the North, and much more. So if you're one of the many who have been enthralled by Tolkien's mystical world, this is a mod to watch!

Coldly does the metal of the blades of the hosts of the Noldor glint in the sun, and the marching of the Noldorin hosts shakes the ground. High do the Noldor bear the devices of their proud lords under whom they marched into the Unknown, away from the beloved Western homelands. Fearless are all the Noldor, and like waves upon the shore their foes crash upon their lines during battle, and yet they hold, for their faces have seen the Light of the West, and not easily is their strength spent or their will broken.

In orderly phalanxes the spearmen of the Noldor march, their tall shields depicting the devices of their lords overlapping with those of the warriors around them like the scales of a dragon. When in formation, no warg charge can scatter them and few darts can pierce their shields. Upon their proud heads they bear helms of Elf-steel that few darts can break, and their mail is sturdy also, turning aside many a hefty blow.

Their spears are long and sharp and the Noldor wield them with great skill for they are a nimble and strong people capable of holding their own against many a fell creature of Morgoth.
