WHAT IS THE NTCORE EXECUTABLE?
------------------------------
The Ntcore executable is a modified version of the Soulstorm.exe
WHAT DOES IT DO?
----------------
The Ntcore version allocates extra ram to your Dawn of War - Soulstorm game to
make the game run smoother and prevent crashes. If you experience crashes mid game,
the Ntcore executable will completely remove mid game crashes from happening.
WHY WOULD I WANT THE REGULAR EXECUTABLE AGAIN?
----------------------------------------------
If you install the Ntcore executable then the people you play with must too. If you know
that the people or friends you are playing with do not have the Ntcore executable installed,
then you will not be able to see each other's games. To be able to play with each other
again either have them install the Ntcore executable, or install the regular executable.
HOW DO I INSTALL THE NTCORE OR REGULAR EXECUTABLE?
--------------------------------------------------
To install either executable, go to your main Soulstorm directory (where you installed the game)
which is usually found under:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm
This directory is dependent on where you installed your Soulstorm, you may have
installed your Dawn of War - Soulstorm elsewhere and if so, just go to your main Dawn of War
Soulstorm folder.
Once you have found your main Dawn of War - Soulstorm folder, decide with executable you wish
to install and open up either the Ntcore or regular executable folder found in this download.
In either folder you will find the Soulstorm.exe file.
Take the Soulstorm.exe file and drag or copy it into your main Dawn of War - Soulstorm directory,
and when asked to overwrite or copy and replace your current Soulstorm.exe select yes.
You're good to go!

I get an error whe i try to open the game after putting the Ntcore exe.
''The procedure entry point

Could not be located in the dynamic link library simengine.DLL''
What does it mean?
Tried with the vanilla .exe and it dont work too. **worked fine 5min ago**
Disk or steam version? This is only available for steam.
Only for Steam?
Aww. I have disk version..
Time to buy the collection on Steam.
Ty for the reply. =)
You can always use your CD-key to activate Soulstorm on Steam, no need to buy it again.
Huh. Never realised. You just got me back into Soulstorm multiplayer. <3
Your CD keys should get you a free copy on Steam. If not, SEGA will give you a steam key if you can prove owndership
it's on sale now
Oh. Whoops. Where could I find the original executable to reverse the move?
What if I don't care about the steam-version? Will you do an exe for the regular version too, or are you transisting all your efforts to the steam-version now?
WEll, for you to play multiplayer you need steam version, so i highly reccomend you get it :D
You don't need this for Steam copies, google the Large Address Awareness patcher and use it to patch the exe. on your own. FOR STEAM PLAYERS: DO NOT DO THIS, THIS WILL BREAK THE GAME FOR STEAM COPIES BECAUSE THE PATCHED EXE. WILL NOT REGISTER ANYMORE WITH STEAM.
I used it with the Steam version and it worked
******** ;)
we all use it, and we all use steam versions since they work online :D
I know it just came out, but no one has it yet. Letting everyone know on multiplayer chat about it, get more people to download it.
Ironic that this came out today, as I decided to download the mod again last night. Was going to wait for next release but, oh well.
So I just played a 2 hour long game, not a single crash, had necrons, IG, SM, eldar, CSM, Tau, and Orks on a apoc map.
Played a 8 player game as chaos, this time it had tyranids in it, crashed at around 20 minutes. :(
Tyranids are definitely the issue with crashes I have had, not sure what tho, is it possible to get the game to create crash logs so I can send to the mod team?
Doesn't Large Address aware do a similar thing?
I don't understand. What do you mean?
It allows the exe to use more than the 2GB of ram, or does NTcore add something else?
Steam won't allow normal LAA patchers changes as it registers as the game being broke.
I made a new copy of the soulstorm.exe on Steam, added LAA to it with cff explorer and run the game from it. It works with steam just fine.
That causes an issue where you can't see the other games regardless of whether any other person is using it or not.
Large Address Aware does the exact same thing, yeah.
Soulstorm.exe cannot be found even thou its right there :d
This might sound like a dumb question, but is 4GB the max memory Soulstorm can have with this modded .exe?
No, afaik it just removes the built-in 2GB limit. There's no other memory addressing limit that I'm aware of.
I have three versions of Soulstorm: The disk version (which I currently still play) the Steam version (which I have not used yet) and a downloaded ISO file for burning or mounting (just in case all else fails with the Steam and CD copy).
Just so you all know, I have always played the disk version and have experienced a lot of crashing in the past. As a result, I had found a solution in response to this phenomenon. Like this one, this program can be used for disk users such as myself that increases the amount or RAM for the Soulstorm.exe application. It's called CFF explorer. You can find it here: Moddb.com Ntcore.com
Instructions are listed on the first link.
Your welcome. ^^
i have 2x dvd version of ss,didnt no untill now that ss keys can be used for steam ss version,i didnt downloaded steam version because for now there are no benefits of it,no multicore cp use,no improvements on dvd ss version,i am on win 7 x64 with 8 gb of ram,i downloaded olready modified ss.exe grorc posted on his mod.
Should I download this? I like the idea because everytime I play online with my friend I always get these 1:30 Minute delays between my commands over the course of the game. Would this extra 4gigs help? Lol...where does it come from? is it some sort of cloud? Does it even work?
Gah! Didn't realize this was for Steam only! Messed up my game and now I'm missing Dll files. /Sadface
just download and replace exe file, dont download dlls.
Also I;m an idiot. it says steam only on the description...
My PC reboot when all players loaded and game is about to start
i am getting the error that apparently i'm missing "steam_api.dll" i definitely have the steam version though?
"steam_api.dll"
Wot? What's this mean? It happens when I try to install NTCore for my steam copy of soul storm.
I have this installed and my game crashes more than before I had it.... It's like once I reach about 10 to 15 minutes I crash both multiplayer and skirmish. It isn't even large games usually 1v1 on like blood river and maps like that and its just crashes.. Is there a fix for this "Apparent" fix?
i installed steam version and for now is working ok.
my soulstorm just received an update, will the ntcore.exe still work?
the regular and the "new" soulstorm .exe have different sha-1 checksums so i guess it's a new version?
This does not seem to work, I have installed it correctly, as it says in the description, and I still have delay in-game when playing multiplayer. Sometimes I noted delay reaching like 1min, but it depends on which map im playing or how many teams are in-game. Everytime I check my performance, at task manager, while having delay in-game, it is using like 4GB and I have a max of 8GB, also those 4GB are with other things opened aswell like Chrome, so I assume its not even using 4GB...
Help would be appreciated, thanks!
So I decided to check how much exactly my soulstorm was using of RAM through the resource panel and it reached 1.3GB in-game and then the delay started so it´s not even using 2GB of RAM which makes me think that either I installed it wrong (Which is not likely because the steps are pretty straight forward) or it's something else.
I'm using Ultimate apocalypse, patch version 1.83.

While using ntcore Soulstorm.exe I cannot use non-soulstorm races (everything exept SoBs and Dark Eldars). My friend installed the ntcore the same way as I did and now he also can't use those races, the game even asks for additional CD keys when its done loading (my game doesn't ask). When I get the original .exe I can play all the races again.
Done a couple of tests, tried clearing registry (steam got it back), verifying game cache, rebooting PC (with both .exe's installed).
Also, while using the Soulstorm.exe from the "Regular executable" folder still makes races unplayable in MP, my own Soulstorm.exe I backed up before installing ntcore over it works well.
It would seem that we both are having the same issue
Not sure if we are doing something wrong but me and my friends tried using this and the Imperial Guard, Tau Empire and Necron are grayed out. So we switched to the regular file and they were still grayed out, so then we just deleted the Soulstorm.exe and verified the game cache and had steam re-download it and now we can use the factions again.
It seems Soulstorm.exes (both regular and ntcore) in this archive are outdated, and steam fails to validate them. There is another way to unlock more memory thought - you need to manually patch your Soulstorm.exe with Large Adress Aware (LLA). For me and my friend it worked perfectly. LLA: Techpowerup.com
Just tried this Mandalor, all my hopes rest with you....
Didn't work :/
I have the exact same problem. So didn't really get your solution. How do you "verify the game cache?" and then have Steam DL it? How do you do that and does that work for the NTCore exe?
