This is a basic re balancing of the games scripts to give the game more of a feel of 1998 movie, Starship Troopers. Changes include but are not limited to, magazine size for the basic rifles, weapon damage levels, enemy damage resistances including making the basic warrior bug tougher to kill by just spraying, increases to accuracy and range of most weapons, and ammunition carried. I also attempted several other small fixes, such as the way the bugs would occasionally have utterly wonky death physics and their corpses would shoot off the map.

Includes two file sets, as well as the original file set:

ST: This is the original file set. It does include one minor fix for a bug where the final level would not load.

Marauder Mode: This is my re-balance of the game. It includes changes to starting weapons and ammo on levels (Why would you ever go into combat with less than a full load of ammo? Much less against swarms of angry bugs), changes to the firing characteristics of most weapons, and changes to make the enemies more rewarding to kill.

M.I. Mode: this keeps many of the tweaks and changes to the game from Marauder Mode, but it reduces the ammo carried, starts you with only one weapon in most levels, and completely removes the weapon with unlimited ammo from your load outs. To add to it, your shields no longer regenerate, so once they are gone, they are gone for good. all damage is permanent. Not a mode for the faint of heart.

*IN CASE YOU HAVE THIS ISSUE
If you seem to be unable to load the last level of the game (the one following the attack on the fort) (this is for if you beat the second to last level, and on the end level screen where you get the option to go to the next level or the main menu, and both options take you to the main menu) The fix is actually stupidly simple. Find the level file folder named Level_Brainbug and change the name to Level_BrainBug. Yes. this issue is caused by one letter in the name being not capitalized. Because reasons. (you'll notice this already done with my files in the mod folder of this mod)

As a recommendation, go into your settings and reduce your crosshair fade to one or two (i use 2). the reason being? it makes long range shots much easier, and the close range a little easier.

Really need somewhere else to download the original game from. I thought you were exaggerating when you said the free download is "super slow", but it's ******* 4kb/s... 3 1/2 day download, **** that.

Finally found a copy that seems to be script rather than slak files, but now the problem is that every single patch is for the CD/slak version.

I give up, quite literally impossible to play this in 2020 apparently.

you can get one off OldGames.com though the download is super slow unless you pay i think it's a dollar or two. if you get that version, there is a file that needs a small correction and you have to remember to find the drop bar that is the language selection and change it to english during installation. unless you speak russain

So quick question, I have gotten the game on disk from Gone GOLD! Classic Games (whom I recommend as they actually give you files and documents to help it run on modern systems), will this still work on that or will I need to have downloaded it as per the instructions. As I have noticed the file types are different and I dont know if it will work.

it depends. if your game files are SLAK files, no. if you can go in and look at the script files, then yes, it will.

Wow! It is a welcome sight I am not the only one still playing this game! I just finished a playthrough the other day too! But I have one important question, are those f***in' blaster bugs balanced now to where they won't two shot you on even the easy difficulty?

sort of. best i could do to fix them was make them weaker than all heck to kill and make it to where they have a very limited firing angle. basically, it lowers the number of shots they will fire because you are not in their cone of fire for the whole firing string. they will still unload a sheet of plasma at range though
