I never know how to use these things, to be very honest, but I'll for sure try them out.

dont have roles per their class but thjeir guns

the gozanti is an amazing anti air gunship but 50 squads (less pop than two ISD ones) **** on large ships witht heir protons.

the gamma class is awful at fighter duty but is all condensed anti capital damage, the decimator the PA one is anti air with not even the protons of the gozanti to help on larger ships just conc missiles so its restrictively anti air in design and role , the maldrood one has no proton but has fighter turbolaser which falls just short of normal ships lights so it wont do good vs suer heavy things like a preator but an isd is still doable to kill and they munch hardpoints fairly fast, Zsinj is my favorite because it is the jack of all trades it has protons, lasers, a fighter turbolaser and anti air concs its a generalist unit

having said that their role depends on their guns they still are counterd heavily by one type of gun (the gunships are resistant vs most damages its just people send them into hordes of anti air corvettes sometimes) just keep them away from ASSAULT concussions missiles the ones from victory ones, tectors, assault acclamators those ones do splash damage and nuke them in one go

Interesting, so in a general sense they tend to be multirole heavy "fighters", with varying degrees of effectiveness against capital ships.

I think they are the type of unit I'd throw in on my fleet comps to fill out the pop cap, and then I'll probably group them with my bombers, but it might be interesting to put dozens of them on a gimmicky special fleet like you suggested, I'll just have to find some small ships to hit the corvettes so that they can run amok, and I'll try to be wary of Victory Is. Thank you for the instructions!

they can fight 1v8 or more fighter squads but heres the thig they need critical mass.

most of them are good vs corvettes except the big elite ones like tartans and lancers (and to be fair lancers can kill medium cruisers with just the tide of lasers per second)

their role depends heavily in the armament , like the decimator has NO guns that are good vs capitals the gozanti is in the same tier its just their projectile the protons is good but it has a long reload, but both of them can just nuke all but the heavier shielded and hp fighters and bombers with their projectiles.

but yeah pop up the fleet builder and have fun getting a feel for them, they benefit from different ships per gunship type, but vsd ones are a solid choice, fleet tenders and carrier fleets or ones with heavy ions are also a good idea to help bust the shields down.

they are under rated AF but if you go heavy on them dont use a path finder its a chore to bring them in 1 by 1, scout ahead with a probe and then jump in :P

Description

Imperial gunship option.

Serving as a Gamma ATR-6 Sidegrade for the Main Empire, the Beta adds even more firepower with additional munitions and restoration of token anti-fighter capabilities. This in addition to the variety of anti-ship armament the two share. It is however, even more sluggish.
