Thieves Guild is a singleplayer mod, which was loosely inspired by Thief: The Dark Project, a game that was originally developed by Looking Glass Studios. In order to play this mod you will need to have Rune, which is another great game that was developed by Human Head Studios.

The Story: The player will take on the role of a thief working for the local thieves guild in a dark and corrupt city during an obscure mystic age. The player will be given a series of dangerous nocturnal missions to complete and if successful you will gain extra items and wealth. But in order to be successful you will need to learn how to creep silently down shadowy alleyways, scale guarded buildings, overcome treacherous traps, pick open locks and all the while you will need to avoid capture from the city guards and night patrols.

Background: This series was designed as a stealthy thief adventure and not as a hack and slash game. The player should try to employ stealth strategy, and other thieving skills such as, avoidance, hiding in shadows, stealing, climbing and jumping before resorting to unsheathing your dagger.

What's new: There are new monsters, weapons, magic items, mechanical and non-mechanical devices, scripting, textures, and music. There are also treasure chests with locks and keys, flags that blow in the wind, lots of early Victorian architecture and atmosphere with new special effects like "shadow zones" and "thief sense". In addition there are many other surprises locked away and just waiting to be discovered. This mod is currently comprised of ten individual maps but that number might and probably will increase by the time it’s ready for release. I'll continue to post new updates with more information, screenshots, and videos in the upcoming days and weeks.

Update 19

News 5 comments

Our team member and ever-faithful comrade, Onaga has just made a new and exciting video. This video is a partial walkthrough of his Subterfuge map. In it he explores the Subterfuge map terrain and highlights some of the tricks of the thief trade. In addition, he also demonstrates some important gamplay elements of our Thieves Guild project. By all means, check it out, we think it's an impressive and fun video.

Since our last update we've added some new game elements and refined some of the A.I. tracking and detection code. We've also gone through and refined the maps and streamlined the storyline.

Subterfuge 01

In short, we've been hard at work completing our project. I'm unable to give an exact release date but I can assure you that we are getting very close to finishing this project. A conservative guess is that we'll be ready sometime this summer. It's not a question of if, it's merely a question of when.

I don't think this mod will come out ever in the future. It's been a long time. And the developers haven't let us play their mod yet...

Does anyone know if there's a mod for camera/mouse movement. The game literally makes me sick when i play it because of how the camera isn't truly locked behind the character.

Hello. I'm not sure if I understand your question or if it's even directed specifically at our mod or if you are asking about other mods.

Our mod features a mix of third-person and first-person camera angles (locked behind the character). If third-person camera angles are not what you like, you can also play our mod in first-person camera mode.

The mix of third-person camera angles is particularly good in a stealth game because it allows the player to look around corners without revealing your position. We think it's more natural than just having first-person camera angles.

Both good questions... We don't have a firm release date right now because there are still a few things up in the air. However, my general sense is that we'll be ready to release it sometime this fall.

We've made 19 missions though, a few of the missions are cinematics. We might include some bonus missions after our first release.
