"Awake O Dead, for there can be no rest for ye beneath the earth. Let the splintered bones burrow from the grave pall. Let cold fingers grip time-worn blades, and unseeing eyes survey the fields of slaughter. For your time has come once more. And the dead shall walk."
- Motto of the Sylvania Press
Hail brothers and sisters, welcome to The Old Realms!
The Old Realms is a Mount and Blade: Bannerlord modification set in the age of Karl Franz’s ascension to the throne.
The Setting:
We aim to capture the grim dark nature of the Warhammer Fantasy world with the intention of delivering the best possible experience for the player. The Old World will have the player meeting and fighting (Or WAAAAGHING!!) alongside legendary characters such as Karl Franz and Grimgor Ironhide, as well as exploring well known locations such as Karaz-A-Karak and Castle Drakenhof.
The Inner-Circle:
What started off as a small team with immense passion for both Mount and Blade and Warhammer Fantasy has quickly become an ever-growing project filled with a mixture of dedicated people.
What we plan to release:
The overhaul will be released in different stages. The current stage includes the southern part of the Empire-states, the Vampire Counts, southern Bretonnian-dukedoms and Mousillon, From this point forward we look to expand upon the Old World itself and include as many of the factions and significant locations as we can with time.
The overall end goal is to recreate the entirety of the Old World within Bannerlord, ensuring all factions and locations are lore accurate and immersive while maintaining the sandbox elements that make Mount and Blade so enjoyable.
The Empire Wants You!
Expanding and looking for help, you can play your part too!
If you would like to see if there is a role that suits you, head over to our discord and check the applications channel.
Discord:
Of course, you can also join just to follow our progress and be a part of the community. All are welcome to settle Grudges! The discord has now grown to a lovely community in which we talk about upcoming things in the mod. There are also dedicated channels in case you have any questions about installation, gameplay, or if you're having issues. We always strive to help you out where needed!

It is monthly devblog time and this monthly was totally, not at all, in any way, delayed by the release of Space Marine II we promise!
As we continue to build towards our next release, we of course have a new bunch of goodies to show off; starting with our new lore of magic! High Magic, a magic exclusive to the Asrai and Eonir, will be a new Lore of magic useable by both the player and NPC’s.
This magic will come with it’s own lore-related restrictions, primarily only being accessible to players that meet the culture requirements (Being an elf). Below we have a showcase of the magic itself in-game:
Apotheosis(High Magic) - ModDB
Soul Quench(High Magic Spells) - ModDB
tempest ( High Magic Spells) - ModDB
The Total High Magic Spells:
Apotheosis: Healing Spell in a Radius, units that join the area will be healed aswell
Soul Quench : Powerful Magical Projectile
Shield Of Saphery: provides all troops in the zone full ranged damage protection
Courage of Aenarion: Unit attack speed buff
Tempest: Powerful Vortex spell
Fiery Convocation: Area debuff igniting Units
Curse of Arrow Attraction : Enemy units suffer more ranged damage.
Following this we will be adding new careers to our new additional factions. The Spellsingers will be available for the Woodelves (Asrai), while the Eonir will have Greylord Wizards. Both are arguably amongst the strongest magicians across the Old World and their lifespan allows for the mastery of almost all of the Winds of Magic.
Spellsingers can learn up to 6 lores of magic but start with access to both Beast and Life magic. During the later stages of the career, there will be an option to dedicate yourself to the path of either a Dark or High Weaver, learning an additional Lore depending on your choice.
Apart from their massive magical power they are also able to call tree spirit units that will support armies in battles. Here is a showcase of the upcoming Spellsinger career, available to the Asrai:
Spellsinger
The Eonir on the other hand will have access to the Greylord career. Learning from the exiled mages of Ulthuan (Greylords) means to travel a thin path that could easily lead to catastrophic failure. The Greylords act for the greater good of the elves or the protection of Laurelorn, yet their methods are often questionable.
With their Fellfang they once controlled dragons, yet their mind control magic will have a different purpose in our mod. The Greylord career will allow for enemy units to be turned in battle, to fight for the player instead of against them.
Similarly to the Spellweavers, the Greylords will be able to learn up to 6 lores and wield them in battles.
Our 3D team also has a swag of additions for this monthly, working tirelessly to flesh out the world we are trying to represent with their stunning work. To start with, to go along with our newest career, we have the Spellsinger robes and much more:
We are also very proud to showcase our new Character Creation Screens for Eonir and Asrai

We have worked on and expanded the campaign map, finishing up many parts of the upcoming playable areas and so we can show off a little peak of Athel Loren:
There will also be new enemies to encounter, in the form of a new Necrarch led Vampire Count faction. Zacharias the Everliving will lead this faction and help balance out the good vs bad faction count across our campaign map.

There will also be more to encounter in and around the Brass Keep:

Lastly we are excited to share with you our upcoming release logo, for our Season of Doom update!

Having an issue, I get a CTD when talking to a lord anywhere, and I noticed I couldnt select a voice or anything when making my character. I have a bunch of other mods installed, im deactivating the ones I think may cause a problem, but I just wanted to make a comment anyway since only two of them do anything with lords, the rest are graphics or XP tweaks and such
Edit: Tried it with all mods I thought would hurt it turned off, with all turned off altogether, and made sure I installed the patch since Butterlib suggests its to do with TOR Core and a Vampire conversation(even if im Empire)

Is there any chance to make Bandid/Heretic spawn Lair conquereble for the player?
Necromancer/Vampire characters need a places where to store summoned Undead when reaching the Party limit
Would be realy nice if some Lairs could be constructed by players atleast!
And when do we get Ghouls and Zombies?
I've been playing this mod for a very long time, its very fun. the only things that I wish I could've done is start a family, and execute enemy lords. Also, idea for another type of magic for these elves, Druid magic. Similar to necromancers, they can summon, but instead of undead it'll be trents, and other various tree monsters and such. I feel it would add a cool little twist and would be another fun class to play around with. Lastly, with the addition for regular elves, you should introduce dark elves. With dark elves they can lean more towards the dark faction and could also introduce a "Assassin" class (more of a class that lets you get detected less easily on the map, faster run speed on the map and while walking, and could try adding special missions such as assassination of a lord)

Is it possible to get rid of the long loading times in the future?? I usually play a game for around 1.5 hours..i dont want to load a game for an hour just to play it for another hour
We really hope that Taleworlds is helping to improve their prebaked shader cache. It allowed to preload the shaders by us developers. However the result in our tests showed extremely weird graphical glitches that were too annoying to actually make use of this option. Aside, the Prebuilding Shader cache is a one time thing. The next loading times are far less.
