Are we going to have them be part of Planetary Defense Forces?

They will be part of the Hutt roster and also be in the era 1 Republic roster.

I guess they could use atmospheric shielding, like you see in hangars, to make the gunship viable at high altitudes, but that's a bit of an over-engineered solution to a problem that could be solved the conventional way, with a big slab of metal and pressurization.

Description

Variable Altitude Assault Transport/enforcement
Model: Philloraptor
Texture: Philloraptor

"The VAAT/e is one of the units that's gonna show up as buildable for several factions. It's going to be a buildable unit for the Republic in Era 1 (basic one, top left), Hutts in FotR (a bit more muted one, bottom left), and Corellia in TR (bronze one, bottom right). Additionally, it could potentially show up for independent warlords (blue-grey, top right). The new paint jobs are made-up, only the Republic one actually shows up, but I decided to give a bit of variation given how prevalent it's going to be.
Role-wise the VAAT/e is a heavy gunship with anti-vehicle lasers and missiles. It also has a transport capacity (though oddly enough no doors, which puts the whole variable altitude aspect a bit into question)." -Philloraptor
