Description

While long since stripped of their distinctive Republic colors, the Venator Star Destroyers played a key role in the early Empire, before most of them were scrapped, turned into training ships, moth balled, sold, or acquired by less legitimate businesses. Yet the Wars of the Interregnum has forced to Empire to utilize all the ships it can get, and like the Dreadnaught class Heavy Cruiser and Acclamator Assault Ship, the Venator has also been modernized and put back into service.

Armed with 4 heavy missile launchers and 10 double turbolaser turrets, as well as a less powerful main reactor than the Victory-II or Imperial class, the Venator is not as good as other Star Destroyers in direct combat. However, it makes up for it with much more hangar space than even the larger Imperial class, making it one of the more efficient carriers of TIE Fighters. It can also supplement its average firepower with its SPHA-T Beam ability, left intact from the Clone Wars by the modernization program.

In gameplay terms, the Venator is unique among Imperial capitalships in that it is unlocked with a research in the civic tree, rather than being acquired by obtaining a specific rank.
