Star Wars: Interregnum is an upcoming mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion that builds off of the highly successful Enhanced 4X Mod. Fleeing the unknown terror that is chasing the Vasari, the factions of Sins of a Solar Empire stumble on a temporary wormhole that takes them to a galaxy far, far away. The sudden arrival of armadas with trillions of refugees and thousands of warships between the events of Episodes 5 & 6 forever alters the Star Wars universe and plunges the galaxy into an unprecedented period of chaos and violence. Begun, a new conflict has.
I'm sure a few of you have noticed this one in the background of other images, but just to confirm, the Golan-III NovaGun defense platform is in the mod. The Empire does not have unique turret and hangar defense structures, instead it has them combined in the Golan-III as a very effective but expensive all in one battlestation. Initially it may not seem that good for the price, but with research capable of adding missiles as a regular weapon and an extra fighter squadron, the Golan quickly becomes a capable defense for any situation.
This is by far my most anticipated mod EVER from ANY game! Keep up the great work!
Wut about golan 1 & 2?
There's really not anything they can do that the Golan-III can't do, so there wasn't a reason to add them. Maybe if the AI doesn't like them I'll try to add the Golan-I as a more standard turret.
Yea the smaller Golan's would be great as a cheap alternative earlier in the game or for less important worlds. They could have much less armor and weaker shields with less guns and abilities, etc.
The Golan-IIIs are expensive compared to a standard turret but not prohibitively so. You can still get them early game, you just want to be a bit more careful with them (I.e. not using them as expendable platforms to kill the militia after the siege frigates are gone like pro Sins players do).
Honestly the real reason the Golan 1 and 2 are not in the mod is because I do not have models for them. I really like the look of the Golan-II but it is really too similar to the Golan-III justify having. If the AI really has an issue with the Golan-III, I might go track down a Golan-I for a much weaker and cheaper version, but otherwise I think there are more useful units I could be adding.
Golan 3 could be so expensive tactical slot wise, you could not build it ie. on asteroids or moon planets.
Doesn't the sins of a galactic empire (or something like that) have 3 different golan models? (Cant really remember as haven't played it for a while)
Last I checked they only have the Golan-III, though it can be built as either a starbase or a tactical defense. Again right now the Golan-III is using 6 tactical slots, which thanks the the Empire's racial bonus of +1 tactical slots they can build a Golan-III even on moons and asteroids without needing to upgrade tactical slots.
whats the NovaGun at the end of golan III for? never heard that before
that's just its full name, most don't use it and just call it the golan iii, each of the golan series platforms seems to have had some sort of thing at the end of it's name, Golan I SpaceGun, Golan II SpaceGun, Golan III NovaGun.
What Hawke said. It's just like warplanes have an official designation as well as a nickname, like the F-22 Raptor. The Golan-III's official nickname, for better or worse, is the NovaGun.
any idea of how many tactical slots these will take up?
They're currently set to 6. The Empire gets +1 tactical slots as a racial bonus so you should be able to build one at every planet even without upgrading tactical slots.
How strong will these be compared to the stock races turrets? How much more expensive will they be?
It's a bit hard to determine. Again it is a combined turret and hangar defense, without the research upgrades it is probably a bit worse than 2 turrets and a hangar defense, after you upgrade them they are a bit better. 6 turrets of course could cover a larger area and would do more damage to a single target, but the Golan also has strikecraft to hit distant targets and can fire in multiple directions at once.
Does the empire also have big starbases like the vanilla factions have?
Of course. I showed it off a while back. :p Moddb.com
