Perhaps Thrawn should provide some bonuses diplomacy wise between the empire and the warlords, to represent his goal of reuniting the empire. I don't know how this would work but if you could find a way that would be awesome.

But he wasn't exactly like by the warlords because he was an alien among other things.

I don't think that's an official artwork MrPerson, and it is much to dark so it wouldn't work well as an icon anyways (I think I tried to use it for one of the ability icons). Also the black uniform indicates this is probably when he was still in the Chiss Expansionary Fleet, none of the ranks he held in the Empire have black uniforms.

He's the second Imperial hero in terms of chronology. You'd already have Teren Rogriss by this point unless you just didn't bother to research his free tech.

by the picture I just thought it looked cool :p
I really have no idea what anything you said about it meant, I read the thrawn series of books a few years back and just latched onto his character, don't know much about him besides that he tried to reform the empire and take down the new republic, which he almost did.

Well that's good, if you don't mind me asking how many research stations it take to get the two heroes? I normally just spam capital ships anyway

You should read the Outbound Flight Novel also by Timothy Zahn, it explores Thrawn's early history and why he was forced to leave the Chiss and sets the ground for him joining the Empire.

The standard E4X hero system requires 2/4/6 civic research labs for heroes, along with a certain amount of other research completed. Empire heroes are a bit harder to get though because their flagships are better, so Thrawn is currently at 5 civic labs.

If I see em I will give em a read. surprisingly where I found the books was in my high school library, they had the whole set of books on the time period I described above.

honestly that was the only reason I really read books at all was because I did not have anything else to do in school, have not read anything in leisure time in years.

I think he means on the ship itself ;). Oh by the way... shouldn't Piett also be a grand admiral if I read your text about his flagship? Since he also has a better flagship then grand admiral Thrawn I would expect something like that :)

Nah, the Grand Admirals were something Palpatine made up for symbolic reasons more than anything else. Thrawn seems to be the only one Vader had any respect for, and he earned that respect before he was a Grand Admiral. I did think about making Piett a "High Admiral" but that only changes what your rank symbol looks like, people usually still call you Admiral when talking to you.

And Thrawn would certainly prefer an ISD-II over an Allegiance. The Allegiance is all about firepower, lots of health and turbolasers, but no fighter support and not as many Ion Cannons. The ISD-II thus give Thrawn more tactical options to make use of. Further, his flagship in the books is an ISD-II, so for lore reasons he ought to have one. :p

A ships strength doesn't always come from its size and the number of gun batteries it has, an Allegiance isn't necessarily useful in every situation. ;)

Actually, that one is not randomly named, I believe, but also the Admonitor was his flagship in a few cases *prior* to Endor. After Endor (The Thrawn Trilogy) it indeed was the Chimera.

Yup. Thrawn had quite a few flagships in his career, but the Chimera is the most well known. In game it is assigned randomly (though Chimera and Admonitor are on the Empire's capitalship name list) though for this screenshot I renamed it to Chimera, and in the Interregnum lore the Chimera and Palleon are reassigned to him shortly after Endor.

Description

Joining Teren Rogriss and Admiral Piett as Imperial hero units, Grand Admiral Thrawn probably needs no introduction. A brilliant Chiss commander exiled for his unorthodox tactics, he eventually found a welcome home in the Galactic Empire, despite its humanocentrism. After being promoted to the rank of Grand Admiral only months before Endor, Thrawn was just resuming his campaign to subjugate the Unknown Regions when the Interregnum started.

When the Human Trader State invaded the Chiss Ascendancy soon afterwards, Darth Vader sent Thrawn to answer the Chiss request for aid in return for them becoming an Imperial Vassal. Rather than defeat the HTS, Thrawn saw the possibility of a Empire-HTS alliance based on their shared humanocentrism. After negotiating through human intermediaries, the HTS allied themselves to the Empire and played a critical role in the Battle of Thyferra, which stabilized the Empire's borders as the Triple Alliance was also forced to fight a multifront war.

Since then, Thrawn has remained focused on building his forces up in the unknown regions, using newly colonized planets and tribute from the Ascendancy. He has refused to take sides between the various Imperial Warlords, and instead has pushed for all Imperial factions to reunite so they can destroy their new enemies. As such, he is the only Imperial hero recruitable by both the Galactic Empire and the Imperial Warlords.

As a unit, Thrawn commands an Imperial-II star destroyer. He has quite a diverse range of abilities, allowing him to easily move around the battlefield as well as capture, damage, debuff and disable enemy units. He also has an always active leadership bonus that increases his unit's accuracy.
