Interregnum Historical Time Period Contest Thread - Star Wars: Interregnum mod for Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion

As you might have seen on the loading screen, the general story of Interregnum is loosely based on a historical period of Earth. For over a year many of have guessed, but none have yet managed to succeed. So in order to help you guys out and formalize the procedure, this topic will give some more hints, and announce that everyone is allowed to guess again. As before, all official guesses must be as a private message to me, and only one per person until I decide to let everyone try again. :p

I should also mention I was a history major in college, and this era is often overlooked in popular media (for reasons I don't understand, it was quite a dramatic period as you can probably guess). I would say 70% of the guesses have been the same three or four periods, and were fairly well covered in popular media. You likely will need to dig for this one, I doubt it is the first thing that comes to anyone's mind.

Now the hints.

* Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader can (loosely) be mapped as historical figures (minus the force powers, of course).

* This period lasted at least a few decades, and occurred between 1000 B.C.E. and 1000 C.E.

* There may not be direct analogs for all the Sins factions, but as a group you should be able to see the similarities. Likewise the Empire, Warlords and to a lesser extent Rebels can be mapped to specific civilizations or governments.

In your guess, please try to give a rough year range in the PM to me. I've had a few guesses where it wasn't clear exactly what time frame they meant. :p

Yeah I guess, but there is I good chance I may not be able to answer them. Since, well, that would be giving more hints just to you basically. Not exactly fair to everyone else.

Not at one time. I'm thinking of making the rule that every time there is a new mod version out, everyone can guess again. I don't want people just bombarding me with guesses hoping they get lucky. :p

And we have a winner! A player name Shelteredspore has correctly figured out the time period. :-) A news post will be posted this week detailing what the answer was and what bits of the mod lore are based on it.
