In 2004, Ubergames released the RPG-X modification for Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force, growing to become perhaps the most comprehensive interactive Star Trek roleplaying experience ever released. RPG-X transforms Holomatch from a frantic arena shooter into a sandbox tool set that enables players to share original stories inspired by a franchise spanning over fifty years and countless tales of starship crews exploring the galaxy on television. With permission from CBS and Raven Software, roleplaying community The Last Outpost has made Star Trek: RPG-X available for free as a standalone game. Star Trek: RPG-X has no predetermined missions, campaigns, or goals. Instead, in many ways a digital spin on the classic tabletop roleplaying game format, it is a massive, customizable sandbox that gives you the tools to create, run, and participate in your own Star Trek roleplays in a way not available in any other game.

If you are new to the game, The Last Outpost gives you two ways to get started!

Available for download here on ModDB is our Standard Edition installer. This is the smallest installer available - giving you access to the base content to get started and familiarize yourself with RPG-X. This doesn't, however, contain all the user-created content (maps, models, music packs) which our Ultimate Edition includes.

Ultimate Edition is the most comprehensive standalone installer ever released for RPG-X, designed and distributed by The Last Outpost. RPG-XUE contains the latest RPG-X client, as well as virtually every mod and file dependency a new user could possibly need. It’s a hefty download at 4.28 GB, but if you’re just getting into RPG-X, this is the most convenient package you can get!

Just to be clear - this is a full, standalone release. You DO NOT need Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force to download and play!

Patch Notes - Version 1.5

• This patch applies to both Ultimate and Standard Edition.

• Engine has been upgraded to The Last Outpost's custom fork of RPG-X 2.3.4B.
• The modified source code is available here.
• This is still backwards compatible with servers based on unmodified RPG-X 2.3.4B.

• An experimental x86 Windows dedicated server client is now included with all installs.
• Linux CentOS x86_64 server binaries are available separately here.
• Port 27016 should be forwarded for TCP and UDP in order to host a server.

• Shortcut target line parameters are no longer required to launch the game properly.
+set fs_game RPG-X2 +set vm_game 0 +set vm_game 0 +set vm_ui 0 are enabled by default.
• Users may need to remove this string from existing shortcuts in order to avoid unintended game behavior.

• The player model list is now cached after initial load for the duration of the active session.

r_primitives is now set to 2 by default in autoexec.cfg.
• This fixes performance problems on maps with improper render culling and/or complex brush geometry.
• Previous fixes requiring the .exe file to be renamed to fix performance issues are no longer required.

The Last Outpost, with support from the original developers, continues the work of Ubergames to develop Star Trek: RPG-X to give new and old players the best experience possible. We are delighted that new content is STILL being created and released for the game after all these years and I have also heard a rumor that there is a Linux version on the horizon...

Visit last-outpost.net for more information!

Stay tuned - and happy roleplaying!

Certainly does not come as a surprise! It's a shame though but people moved on to other games and Star Trek isn't what it used to be.

After checking this out, I came to the conclusion that this is not for me and/or the group I represent for the following reasons:

1) This one is no longer in development. I do not see any reason why I should introduce a dead something to a live environment. Even older games such as the original Doom still knows a more active developing environment and that pre-dates Elite Force/RPG-X by a decade.

2) Custom content is no longer created for this game. The lack of custom content created for older games is a dead give away to determine if the game still knows/has an active development cycle. Since there hasn't been any third-party content released and especially in the past year eversince this one was released, one cannot conclude anything else that "active development" does not apply here.

3) Only their "standard edition" is available on ModDB. Where is their "Ultimate Edition" other then on their website? At least: not here and that makes us wonder if their "Ultimate Edition" is legit to begin with. Since it's an asset repack, does The Last Outpost have permission from all developers to have their content included/repacked in this fashion?

4) The comments made by developers TiM on his forums, where we as player should be grateful that there is content available to begin with! A real selling point to attract people to a game/mod that is barely even played anymore. I can only guess but I do believe that the comments made by TiM, are reason for people to seek other ventures.

5) The bullying by TLO staff against others. Realy people? To publicly tell that person X has a problem, please don't fix it? To people a person that it is your intent to bully him/her because of whatever reason instead of resolving it?

Who are The Last Outpost and what kind of people are running it, to allow such behaviour from its members against outsiders? Certainly not the people I/we like to be associated with!

Due to above reasons, we have decided to investigate other gaming ventures who also know a more active developmend, both inhouse and third party.

Hi,

My names Callum I'm TLO's head of Technical and member of the cabinet. This comment only recently came to my attention as I do not frequent this page (or site for that matter).

I just wanted to try and address some of your comments.

1) To my knowledge RPG-X under TLO is still under development, being head of Technical I should know for sure, sadly as I do not know the language the game is coded in I've not been a big part of the development, I will reach out to those working on the dev and see if they can come and post a progress update on whatever they are working on.

2) It is true that new custom content is few are far between, but we still do have mappers out there making new maps, Klaw's Daedalus map for example.

3) Last I checked we had permission to host/repackage all maps that are included in Ultimate Edition (hence why some maps out there are not included), however I'm not sure why it's not available here, I will bring this up at our next cabinet meeting and try and have that resolved.

4) Can't comment on this, not seen or heard of these comments. (I'm not disputing whether they exist, genuinely haven't seen them)

5) This point troubles me greatly, as a member of TLO's staff I would like to think we have a 0 tolerance policy regarding bullying, I would really appreciate it if you would be willing to contact me privately regarding this so I can bring this to the attention of our President and Internal Affairs. You can email me on technical[at]last-outpost[dot]net or callum603[at]last-outpost[dot]net or if you'd prefer a chat with me instead of email you can find me on most services under my screen name of callum603.

If any of our members or staff have been acting inappropriately to non members or even our own members I for one would like to know and I'm sure our President and IA would also like to know so that swift action can be taken.

I really do hope that you would be willing to talk to me so we can hopefully resolve these issues.

If someone has or is being bullied within TLO or outside of TLO by any of our staff or members, you can also reach out to me on the above addresses.

No, thank you. I don't wish to be ranted about how bad Apprentice really is and the sorts without any form of self reflection. If you are really committed to this, then I expect you to respond here! Otherwise, I would say that Apprentice has more then enough truth in his arguments!

Apprentice has pointed out already the instances where TLO has been bullying, now do play ball or is The Last Outpost ignoring this because it concerns Apprentice? If so, then I say it's extreme childish and unprofessional that it only matters WHO is saying it rather then WHAT is being said!

4) Forums.ubergames.net
5) See comment Apprentice and I expect you to respond to it!

It's a real "privilege" that the public can play RPG-X, yeah ... right and somehow I don't expect anything coming from this, which will give Apprentice more credibility.

5) This point troubles me greatly, as a member of TLO's staff I would like to think we have a 0 tolerance policy regarding bullying ...

This is a lie! The Last Outpost has a 100% tolerance policy regarding bullying, even to the extent that non-TLO members get banned when they try to defend themselves against it while the bullies themselves are allowed to do everything. In essence, staffmembers of TLO have a carte-blanche in order to do as they please and no-one is willing to hear you out.

Certain examples of bullying by a TLO staffmember:
- Forums.ubergames.net

- A now deleted comment made by Grizz:

The last five years have been hard to predict as to what was more likely. Star Wars, The X Files and Twin Peaks coming back? A new Star Trek TV series? A female Thirteenth Doctor? Donald Trump elected President of the United States? Or Apprentice still ranting on about the same old bollocks about the development of a mod for a game that was released 17 years ago.

Think I'll fire up ab_release02 in RPG-X to celebrate this new milestone.

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you

When I addressed this bullying notion with the following comment ...

Like Grand Nagus already said: you could've chosen to remain silent. Instead, you take the opportunity again to diss and ditch me and another member here who made certain comments about this action of yours. If I have been so wrong, then why the responses ?? What are you trying to hide behind this 'trolling' ??

I like to believe that we can still resolve this, as civilised and mature individuals. Are you willing to do that and participate in an argumented dialogue with respect for the arguments on all sides or is your only interest to diss and ditch me at each and every attempt to do so ??

... this Grizz responded with:

Yes, that is my only interest. You've known that since you pulled your maps from RPG-X.

You should be grateful for the attention - nobody else is going to entertain you or try to "resolve" anything. There's zero need to do so. But I'm happy to give both of you something to do on these cold winter nights.

Yes, this is your "Head of Media & Marketing". Need I to say more?

- Moddb.com
Instead of maturely agreeing with the notion that abusing one's administrative powers in order to make a 'joke' and making illegally content available that has been removed (amongst others), TLO member Veritas decided to file a complaint against me for "pushing my opinion".

This leads me to believe that The Last Outpost is a very questionable group of people who are clearly willing to turn a blind eye when and especially when it suits them in order to make certain people silent.

I dare you to respond and deal with this in a mature fashion and that also includes lifting my ban, since it was given for the wrong reasons . . .

Hi Migdog,

I only offered the email option as there's more I can say in private, but I'm more than happy to continue it here. I could rant at you 'about how bad Apprentice is', but I will not for two reasons, I was not around at TLO back when Apprentice was a member and so only have the TLO records to go by and two I just wouldn't.

It's a real "privilege" that the public can play RPG-X

This might be an unpopular response, but in away he's right, we don't have to pay him for it, they didn't have to make it etc. But I still hope the comment made was a joke.

I've made some things in the past that have not been used at all, if I could say I'd made something like RPG-X I can assure you I would be the using the world 'privilege', but along side the words 'is mine'.

I am actually glad Apprentice has replied to this (annoyed I didn't get a notification shakes fist at computer screen), I have never had the opportunity to talk to him.

Which leads me on to...

Hi Apprentice,

my apologise for not responding sooner, I didn't get a notification, only got one when Migdog replied.

This is a lie! The Last Outpost has a 100% tolerance policy regarding bullying, even to the extent that non-TLO members get banned when they try to defend themselves against it while the bullies themselves are allowed to do everything.

Allow me to rephrase my earlier response. In my opinion from what I have seen since taking on the role of technical head roughly ~2 years ago and from my own core values, I would like to think we have a 0 tolerance policy. For while I am a member of the TLO cabinet, this is something I will always try and enforce as much as my power permits me.

In essence, staffmembers of TLO have a carte-blanche in order to do as they please and no-one is willing to hear you out.

From my experience we don't. We do have a lot of banter with each other and our members and I fully appreciate there is a fine line between friendly banter and bullying, but from my experience if we (or any members) have overstepped that line the guilty party is dealt with appropriately.

To also address that last part of your sentence there, I am willing to hear you out, as much as I would prefer to hear your side of the story (as I have only the TLO records to go by thus far) in private (my email is above or if you can PM on here you can) if you would prefer to keep it here, then that is fine also.

Yes, this is your "Head of Media & Marketing". Need I to say more?

You do not, thank you for providing me with those. It will be brought to the attention of the TLO President today!

Instead of maturely agreeing with the notion that abusing one's administrative powers in order to make a 'joke' and making illegally content available that has been removed (amongst others), TLO member Veritas decided to file a complaint against me for "pushing my opinion".

If the joke was making content available that shouldn't have been, then that is wrong.

To voice my own opinion for a moment, reading through some of the links you provided (https://www.moddb.com/mods/rpg-x/page/2#comments) I can see why you may have gotten some of the responses you did, as a developer myself (not of RPG-X or any content for RPG-X) I can understand the kind of responses like 'it's done when it's done', I can also understand the wanting of a better response *looks in SMF's direction*.

However, there are some responses that I can agree where totally unnecessary and could be viewed as bullying. (I say could be not to try and suggest it wasn't or was, I strongly feel bullying isn't always a case of this is and this isn't, it's all about the individual receiving the comments and how they perceive it).

//Part two (spam protection...*sits and waits a minute*)

This leads me to believe that The Last Outpost is a very questionable group of people who are clearly willing to turn a blind eye when and especially when it suits them in order to make certain people silent.

I can promise you this isn't the case with me, if there is a genuine reason to ban/silence someone, then I will, but if it's just because I don't like their criticism or something similar, then they will be permitted to continue, a project needs constructive criticism.

I dare you to respond and deal with this in a mature fashion and that also includes lifting my ban, since it was given for the wrong reasons . . .

I feel I have fulfilled your dare?

In regards to your ban, while I have the administrative powers to lift it, I don't have the authority. I doubt I would get away with requesting your ban be revoked just so I can continue chatting with you here.

If having your TLO ban lifted is something you want, then I can promise you I will propose it and fight for it, but not until I've had a chance to get to know you myself, because up until now, the only information on yourself I have received is from the TLO records and from members who were around back then. I would like to get to know you myself and make my own decisions on who you are as a person.

I also can't even promise that if I were to take the proposal to revoke your ban to the cabinet that it would get through, I can promise that after getting to know you, if I feel it appropriate, I will try.

I look forward to a hopeful future discussion,

********, like Grizz you just wanted to have the opportunity to rant about how what kind of terrible person I am and the sorts!

You're missing the point here. The point that I have been addressing, is the fact that anyone should be grateful that we are getting something with no questions asked. The moment anyone ASKS a question about it, Tim and the rest of the RPG-X community will not hesitate to qualify and classify that person as "entitled" and/or "toxic" if you persists. Both terms have been greatly abused here !!

You do not, thank you for providing me with those. It will be brought to the attention of the TLO President today!

Well ... it's been a while and so far I have heared nothing but crickets. This means that The Last Outpost is completely in agreement of the bullying actions against my person, amongst other arguments that I have made in the past. Good to know that.

I feel I have fulfilled your dare?

No, you haven't. You speak in name of TLO but not for a single moment you have taken responsebility of actions taken by TLO and its members against me. The only thing that can be seen here, are lame excuses, "because of this", "because of that", "I was not around" and the likes.

TLO *SHOULD* lift my ban since it was given for the very wrong reasons. If not, then I can legally prove that The Last Outpost does regard me as "untermensch", deprived of all courtesies that make us human. I am not the one who has instigated the 'cordon sanitaire' but if The Last Outpost wants to keep this form of Apartheid alive, it will say more about TLO then it will about me! I wanted to talk, the RPG-X community only wants to see me burn and sorts.

Lekker doen alsof je neus bloed, maar als de kans er is om mij na te trappen of anderzijds mij te treiteren, dan zijn jullie haantje de voorste. En jullie noemen jezelf "volwassen", yeah ... right. Geloof je het zelf, oh wacht . . .

Hi,

Your first sentence pretty much shut this down for me. It's one of my lines unfortunately, I don't deal well with people telling me what I was thinking or meant by what I wrote or said. I was sincere when I said I wanted to talk with you about getting this all sorted out, I'm sorry that this will not be possible.

I am basically writing this response to inform you that I will not be taking an appeal to the cabinet of The Last Outpost, nor am I willing to continue our discussion further as you have demonstrated to me that you are not willing to engage in a civil discussion with anyone related to TLO or RPG-X.

I do want to take this opportunity to quickly let anyone else reading this know, if you do have any issues relating to TLO, my door is always open, either here or via my contact methods above.

Thank you for contacting the Last Outpost.

No, you never HAVE and HAD the intention !! If you had, then you would’ve responded to ALL arguments given instead of isolating ONE thing and blowing it up out of proportions, so that you and TLO woud look “good” and me “bad”. Besides that, after the PROVABLE rants of two other TLO members regarding on how “bad” my person is to somebody else, why would your response be any different ??

I am basically writing this response to inform you that I will not be taking an appeal to the cabinet of The Last Outpost, nor am I willing to continue our discussion further as you have demonstrated to me that you are not willing to engage in a civil discussion with anyone related to TLO or RPG-X.

I strongly recommend you reconsider this stance because let’s run down the list, shall we ??

- How ‘civil’ is it, that a TLO-member decided to publicly BULLY me on at least TWO occasions ??
- How ‘civil’ is it, that when I invited this TLO-member to have a civil discussion, this TLO-member publicly STATED that it was her INTEND to bully me and nothing else ??
- How ‘civil’ is it, that this TLO-member decided to file a FALSE COMPLAINT when I compared her BEHAVIOUR with similarities from the past ??
- How ‘civil’ is it, when TWO TLO-members are RANTING about my person towards others and at the same time REFUSING to talk to me ??
- How ‘civil’ is it, when a TLO-member decided to file a FALSE COMPLAINT against me when I confronted him with some undeniable truths/violations of TLO’s OWN Code of Conduct ??
- How ‘civil’ is it, when TLO stated that I had to write a 500-word essay (Fallout 76 here) in order to have my ban lifted, which would’ve NEVER happened and was only for the AMUSEMENT of TLO in seeing me crawl, squirm and beg like some kind of low-life ??
- How ‘civil’ is it, that TLO decided to disciplinary actions against my person for events that did NOT occur on the TLO-platform ITSELF ??
- How ‘civil’ is it, that TLO CONTINUED to use my work to PROMOTE and ADVERTISE their services and products while at the same time, regarding me as ‘sub-human’ by refusing to respond to the arguments I have repeatedly layed out (or is abusing your privileges in order to insult non-English people considered funny with TLO) ??

All this is provable and at this point, I do advise you continue talking to me and lifting my ban, since it has been given for the very wrong reasons. Altough I never gotten them at my door, certain of these actions are identical to what happens when people are being “swatted”.

If not, well what will a Dutch judge in a Dutch court of law think of ALL this . . .

Please either seek professional help for your persecutory delusion or take us to court.

But stop this attention seeking nonsense. We're just a group of people playing video games on the internet together. You're just a man who makes maps for video games... and lets not pretend Migdog43 stumbled across this mod and has taken up the bastion of logging in just to defend you for no apparent reason every few months.

Apartheid and Third Reich analogies? Utterly pathetic and shameful.

For the record, just to save yourself some hardship, TiM hasn't been a part of this community or had any connection to RPG-X for a very long time. He no longer cares about you. He no longer cares about me. He has moved on with his life. So should you.

We will probably continue to load up the Asteroid Base maps on our servers every now and again. So congratulations - you have a legacy within RPG-X. You released the maps. You distributed them freely. So we will play them as we always used to in order to make your efforts worthwhile.

Goodbye, Apprentice. You have got your wish and we will no longer have a presence on ModDDB. I repeat my original plea. Seek help or take us to court. We welcome either option.

If anyone needs any help, then it will be most definitely you! Let's not play "holier then thou" and forget the bullying you did last year!

I'm not seeking attention, I am seeking resolution! I am seeking a common ground, an environment where all arguments are being considered equal and are judged on their individual merit and not based on WHO is saying it but that is too much to ask from The Last Outpost and their members! I wanted to talk but each and every time I tried to talk, TLO and its members only want to kick me even further when I am already down on the ground!

You may not like "analogies" but TLO's actions do speak more and for themself. I wanted to talk and I am still willing to talk and willing to produce content, so I hereby challenge you and TLO to talk! We will and we shall respond to ALL arguments and under NO circumstances shall we isolate ONE instance and use it by blowing it up out of proportions by qualifying any person as "lesser" because one of us don't agree with a given sentiment.

Klaw was right when he said that my behaviour was less than exemplary but your bullying in December 2017 is also less than exemplary. We all made mistakes here, no-one is "clean" in this whole matter. What matters now, is that we find common ground to resolve this conflict. We don't have to like each other, as long as we can keep each other in their respective values. Is TLO up to this or is TLO only interested in kicking me even further while I'm already down on the ground. Your call . . .

Seriously? Are you REALLY pulling yourself out of the argument by making Apprentice look bad? What kind of "people" are you?

Quick to judge, even quicker to condone. Apprentice tried to talk in a civil manner on several occasions. All he got, was more and more kicks and dirt slammed in his face from TLO! Once a criminal, always a criminal is it not? What a 'benevolent' person you are.

To everyone else who has been reading this: The Last Outpost will support and endorse every foul action against Apprentice or anyone has been labeled as second class human being! The Last Outpost refuses to talk but they will engage themselves in bullying and other degenerative behaviour against those persons!

Seriously, mature people talk despite what has happened! Is TLO mature enough to find merit in ALL arguments or is TLO only for people with very BIG egos who are willing to trash and kick others?

Yes, I have some issues with the way TLO has handled itself regarding Apprentice, since a lot of his arguments has found resonance! Reply if you are sincere and are willing to take all arguments into account, otherwise don't bother. I don't wish to be lied to.
