This is a MASSIVE ship, probably one of the biggest "regular" of the TNG era. Its a real shame that budgeting never allowed for interesting camera angles to compare the Enterprise and these ships, cause this ship dwarfed the Galaxy Class, but the comparison lacked cause they couldn't really do anything interesting with the camera. There are some size discrepancies floating around, but overall this is thing is massive no matter what the suggested size is.

The early cutscenes of "ST: TNG - A Final Unity" have some nice camera angles on the Enterprise-D and a Garidian Warbird (sold by the Romulans). :-)

Speaking of favorites, there something about Andrew Probert designs that just make it so difficult to choose from. His TNG shuttle is also epic, those curves, sleek lines. Just amazing.

I wanted to see more of those engines. I believe the Norway is the closest we get to that engine design. Unfortunately only one ship. Damn budgetary constraints. Ruin everything lol

The Norway's nacelles were unique, as far as I know, much like the entirety of the Norway model. It's such a shame the CGI model data was corrupted.

Max is actually very proud of his Norway model - it's the most accurate model we know of.

I ruined more of these than I can count. Here, in Bridge Commander or STO. This class is largely overestimated.

I must agree. Most games just didn't do her justice. In most mods I find her so massive that her inability to effectively maneuver around makes her a bullseye. It's hard for her to position herself for a mega frontal attack to better utilize her massive disruptive array.

Or over-nerfed in most games.

the nose section alone is is quite a bit larger in volume than an entire galaxy class. whether the ship is 3 to 10 times as volumuse as a galaxy class, depends on how thick you make the wings.

Description

The mighty D'deridex warbird is the iconic battleship of the Romulan Star Empire and forms the backbone of the Imperial Navy. Significantly larger than comparative Federation starships or Klingon cruisers, the intimidating profile of the D'deridex has come to symbolise Romulan might, and is rightly feared wherever it is deployed.

The D'deridex sets the bar by which all other warbirds are measured, and is one of the most versatile, powerful and successful starships ever produced by Romulan shipyards. Carrying a great payload of disruptors, pulse cannons and the plasma torpedoes for which the Romulans are well known, the D'deridex can match even the strongest Federation starships in combat. Combined with the characteristically powerful shields utilised by the Imperial Navy, the D'deridex is a dangerous and formidable warship indeed.

Its apparent enormous size is in part an illusion granted by its unusual double-hull design. The D'deridex, in reality, only has slightly more mass than Starfleet's own Galaxy-class starships. The vast amount of surface area provided by the D'deridex's swooping wings, however, give the illusion of immense size and power. Enemies have been known to panic at the mere sight of the D'deridex looming over their comparatively puny ships.

The Romulans' penchant for intimidating illusions should not be considered unfounded bluster, however. The Romulans seldom make threats they cannot back up with action, only appear when they have an advantage and only commit to battle when they believe victory is all but assured. The D'deridex is a manifestation of this philosophy, perfectly expressing the Imperial Navy's ethos of overwhelming the Empire's enemies with sudden, massive force.

If knowledge is power, then to be unknown is to be unconquerable. The Romulans understand this principle better than anyone else. As such, the Empire's fleet of warbirds, led by the D'deridex, prowl the stars invisibly, unknowable, until the time is right to strike.
