Not to belittle your idea, but this honestly wouldn't work. Though they are similar rifles, they don't share much commonality. It would just make sense to repair AN-94's with another AN-94.

AK's however should be able to accept most parts from other AK's, the only difference being what caliber the "parts" AK is and the "recipient" AK is, so you couldn't repair a 7.62 rifle with a 5.45 or 5.56 barrel, or attach a fixed stock to an under folding AK. Unless of course you want to also include the receiver as parts, so you could in theory break down an AK and build one from scratch from the parts. Just my criticism.

I don't think they made it this complicated, form my perspective I see it like this : you have two guns, one in good condition, the other in bad condition, you use the broken one an take whatever parts you need from it, this probably will be done in background, so it's just a matter of click and it's done, the player probably won't spend much time selecting a special part to be removed from the broken weapon, you just select both weapons and one will be removed from your backpack, the other will gain a little boost in condition. This is just my poor understanding, don't take it as an absolute explanation.

I agree with this. As far as Abakan goes, it's a unique weapon and should stay that way. It's wildly different from AK.

Yep, we know the internal mechanisms of the AN-94 are pretty distinct from the AK-74 and AKS-74U.

Really, this is one of those times when we're going for mechanics over realism - we want the player to be able to repair higher-tier weapons with lower-tier ones rather than, say, locking the player in into only being able to repair an AN-94 with other AN-94s.

Currently Wormwood is only using vanilla weapons (using your example, Wormwood doesn't have any underfolding AKs, or AKs chambered in 7.62x39m or 5.56x45mm (yet)), and I'm sure you'd agree that there's such limited commonality between them that making weapons only repairable with parts from very similar weapons would make actually repairing your gear with repair kits prohibitively difficult.

This seems reasonable, although hardly ideal in my opinion. I've heard that some weapon mods are planning to make mergers with this one when it comes out. Perhaps they can address the idea of parts commonality then.

I was waiting for it since ...ever. All that junk have use now. Could say it's evolution from SGM but that would be exagerration.

Guys you do know that most parts between the AK & the galli are interchangable IRL right?

I'm curious as to how this works. Do weapons turn into repair kits upon break-down? For example, I want to repair my AK-74S so I break down a poor condition AK-74U. This turns into an 5.45x39mm repair kit, able to repair anything of that caliber. Alternatively, does it turn into spare parts, which can be used in tandem with a universal repair kit to fix a weapon of similar caliber?
