I've beaten Misery back in version 2.2

Now I'm playing it again in version 2.2.1, didn't really notice much of a difference (actually my game crashes more now, especially when loading saves)

BUT ANYWAYS, what I'm really bothered about is one... ONE THING.

Jupiter Factory.

Seriously, what happened here? In 2.2 there was like, a lot of zombies, some dogs, around 2 controllers and only a burer or two. It was a fun challenge already.

But NOW every time I go there I have to deal with: 1~2 poltergeists, all of the zombies that are still there but are not really a problem to deal with, 1~2 controllers, 1~5 snorks and 5~10 BURERS.

What's up with that? Ok, there are challenges and there are outright illogical challenges. WHY IS THERE SO MANY BURERS IN THERE? WHYYYYYYYYY?

Ok, I've gotten past that area twice, it took maybe an hour or two, but I did it.

BUT NOW I'm in this impossible scenario where I can't just get their attention and run away, slowly taking out one by one, because they ALWAYS come in a big blob of death. And guess what, you can't really throw grenades because either they throw it back at you or they throw the grenades away to somewhere else.

Am I the only one that is bothered about this or...?

You caught an unlucky spawn. A grenade launcher is very handy for dealing death to squads of psy beasties, especially when they cluster up so considerately for you. IEDs are also an effective tactic.

Crash logs? Are you hoarding?

Guess I'll load back and try that then. I'll try to get a Crash log next time my game crashes. Also, I'm not sure what you mean by hoarding.

Keeping excessive quantities of things you don't need in the near future. 1000's of rounds of ammo, all your salvage debris, tons of purely immersion items of no value, etc. Having too many items in your stashes and on your person can cause stability and performance problems. Usually, it becomes noticeable when trying to change maps and causes crashes. It can cause them at other times too.

Just the last ten lines of your crash log, preferably in the bugs thread to keep the info (cause and solution) more consolidated.

Happy Hunting at the Jupiter plant!

You were just having a bad luck with spawns. What kind of monsters will be spawned is randomly determinated, between "strong" monsters, like burers, controlers, bloodsuckers etc. Seems you got a few spawns of same type in a row. IIRC, without looking in files, there should be 3 burers max in one squad. Seems you got spawns of 3-4 squad of same type in a row.

Smart terrains or STs in Jupiter area were designed in a way that after timer expire, squad spawned on ST_1 will imediately go toward ST_2. With that ST_1 become unoccupied and it is allowed for ST_1 to spawn next squad when timer expire again. In MISERY 2.2.1 timers on those STs were increased a lot, to avoid excessive spawns, but those were not enough. ST choose one of 5 predeterminated squads that will be spawned by random number. In 2.2.1 two more "special" squads were added to spawn. If you are lucky enough those "special" squads will not go elsewhere, toward ST_2, those will stay in place on ST_1 forever and in that way preventing ST_1 to spawn more squads until ST_1 is no longer occupied.

It is not perfect solution, you still can get large number of enemies in that area, but it helped a lot to prevent way too much enemies that can slow down some machines too much. But, again, still depends a lot how (un)lucky you are with random generator. Jupiter area is inteded to be tough, you should always be well prepared when you go there, just that it should no longer have insane spawns that hardware could not handle.

I managed to get the burers attention and walked away for a little extra distance. Then, I threw all of my grenades as far as I could into their direction, because of the distance I guess they were too far away to mess around with my grenades or, they were too busy running towards my direction. Either way, it worked and the grenades killed a lot of them. I got some more distance and took out the remaining burers, but thanks for the tips anyways!
