Hi all. So, I'm not at all sure how the folder/file structure works and I like to tinker around with stuff. Quick question: If I want to, for example, mess around with different buckshot ammo configurations or adjust something for a weapon, do I need to make the necessary changes to the 'normal' config files, or the ones in class_diversity for the class I'm playing, or both?

The default weapons files are Assaulter files. If you only play Assaulter, you can just edit the Assaulter files in class diversity and reapply your class. If you play all the classes, change all three classes and reapply your class (switch classes, then switch back).

While you are experimenting, you can just edit the files in your current configs\weapons folder, observe the effects, tweak some more, then when you are happy, copy those files over the ones in the class diversity folder.

If you do anything to upgrades, you need to start a new game each time you test. Prior saves will not be good.

Thanks Jasper. So with that said, I'm asuming the standard config folder is merely a copy of whatever class was selected for the current playthrough, and upon starting a new playthrough, the respective class config is copied to overwrite what's in the standard config folder?

Only class specific files are in the class folders. Stuff like weapons, artifacts, medications which are impacted by the class advantages/disadvantages. Creatures are common to all, so there should only be one m_bloodsucker.ltx for, for example.

So, you can edit your installed files, and once you are happy, make copies of them. To make it a mod, and easy to install, you need an empty gamedata folder with all the structure included (folders and sub folders) for the included files. Then merely applying the add-on over the existing installed gamedata, and usually starting a new game will work. Creature files will not impact saved games, so would be save game compatible.
