Check out the newer version, I wont be supporting this anymore
Changelog:
11.04.2021
After reading the comments I've noticed that some aren't pleased with the new button background, or the transition, and some wanted MCM (Mod Configuration Menu) support.
- I took the caveman approach and made 8 different versions with 8 separate download links so each can have a version they enjoy most, both for MCM and Non-MCM enjoyers. Each version is a mix (with menu background and transition effect, with background but without transition effect, without both....etc you get the idea.
- The menu button background has been resized so that when you hit escape inside a savegame all buttons should fit nicely inside, wether you use MCM or not. The downside is although in the main menu (when you load up the game) the box size might be too generous and have empty space at the bottom. This is the best my monkey brain could do. XD
- You shoud ckeck out what F_Frost did HERE using Loneliness flavor. He did what i couldn't and came up with a more simple and elegant way to solve the button background issue. Big brain move!
Seeing as the archive size became huge (>1gb) I've decided to move everything in my Gdrive. The archive on Moddb will contain a notepad with links to all different variants.
It's best to use this chart to get the correct download link from the corresponding number

Description:
I saw that there are very few main menu addons, especially animated ones. Maybe people are making their own already, or maybe because its a little bit tricky. So i took a stab at it and this is what i came up with..
I took inspiration from this video Youtube.com which i cut, cropped and stitched together. Quality isn't the best, but i'll explore more means to improve on it if i get the time.
The menu is on the right-hand side so you can enjoy the view.
Compatible with ModConfigurationMenu If you don't have it and download an MCM version, well it wont crash, but it wont look pretty either.
I had to place a background for the menu buttons because it got hard to read 'cause of the building were too bright. I don't know how to code. It might look weird on other resolutions, but it looks ok in 1366x768, 920x1080, 3840x2160, at least from my own testing. Tell me what you think.
It comes in 4 flavors so you can keep you own feeling of the universe.
Maybe if people like it I'll make more flavors, or an entire new one based on something else.
1. Melancholy
2. Autumn Misery
3. Bleak
4.Memories of Pripyat: this one is made to look like a historical film.
Impressive. Thanks
Thx: it could be the n°1 animated main menu mod!
But the white color/tone... -.-''
yeah, ill see what i can do when i get the time
Edit: I might have found a workaround
i hear you
Don't know why but it doesn't work for me, installed with mo2
maybe you have mcm underneath
I guess that's mod configuration menu ? Otherwise I don't know what this is
yes
I don't use MCM, I will retry eventually
place under ModConfigurtionMenu or even better, at the bottom of the modlist. You can't have both yet.
[Sorry, machine translation]
I am a programmer, not an anomaly modder...
But if I faced such a problem in my projects, then I would overlay a black semi-transparent square on the video in the same area where the menu is.
Of course, just a square is not very beautiful, but the whole point is in the idea. This way, you don't have to make it hard for yourself to learn how to work with the menu itself.
However, I'm not sure about the adaptability of this approach ... Perhaps it will look differently at different screen resolutions ...
In general, I wanted to say that usually in such cases, a background is attached to the menu. Perhaps menu has its own textures, under which you can put a layer with a background.
Thank you for the advice. Maybe i will give it a try in later.
Tried with MO2, thought it's because of some other mod that interferes. It appears it doesn't as i see no conflicts in MO2.
Next, tried to copy and paste the gamedata folder directly into the root Anomaly folder and run it without any mods. Background is still standard Anomaly still image.
Any ideas? Or did you forget some file when packaging the mod?
LE: Managed to get it working, seems the filename is wrong, should be ui_actor_main_menu.ogm Problem is that now when hovering over a menu selection a big weird yellow rectangle appears, probably the selection effect that's getting corrupted or something.
Here's what i am talking about - Prnt.sc
I'll revisit the mod in the coming days and see what i can do about it.
Try the update, it might just fix your problem.
same problem here, renaming the file make it the menu back show but there is a yelllow rectangle as selection.
i didn't notice it was updated now it works, and there is more options it seems, thanks.
Great job! Thanks for fixing it. Perhaps you also take requests? If i may. Are you willing to make it compatible with MCMA? As i can see that it interferes with it using MO2.
In practice it's just one file merge away to make them both work together. Problem is, i will have to make the backgrounds from scratch because the extra button from mcm pushes the last button out of the black square, because the square is part of the video, not a ui element and it looks pretty patchwork
I'd be happy to make 2 versions, but if I'm gonna reedit the videos i might as well see how i can improve the quality and put out 2 versions. Ill explore this once i get the time. So stay tuned.
Nice Work Brother Lowenhertzeg !
Thank you my man!
What?
Via Google Translate:
It seems during the 'transitions' of clips the game lags. I can't move cursor because lags a lot during transitions other than that i love this.
I had the same problem with a similar addon. The problem turned out to be in the video... I can't say more precisely. I think it matters a lot what kind of system you have. I immediately thought of my mammoth-pc... If your machine is not very powerful, then I think this is the point.
I managed to solve this by changing the bitrate from variable to static. I just checked - it works at least for the Loneliness preset. Lowenhertzeg, I'm looking at you ߍ ̮ ̮ ߍ
may i ask how did you change the bitrate to static? I would like to solve this issue in a future update
Hmm... I used Movavi Video Editor for this. I don't know if this tool will be convenient for you, since it is paid. However, many pirated versions can be found on the internet if that's acceptable to you.
The process itself consists only in dragging and dropping the file you need into the program window and pressing the "Save" button. You will be greeted with a menu with parameters for the output file. Among other things, there your can configure the bitrate and file extension. The program does not know how to save files in the Ogm extension, but if you save them to Ogv and manually change the extension to Ogm - the file will not be damaged.
It's actually quite simple - the program is intuitive. When I first encountered this situation, I did not even know that the problem could be in the bitrate...
I think many other freeware programs do as well as Movavi. If I were you, I would look for information on whether this can be done in the editor in which you retouched your videos. But if you decide to download Movavi, then I can post a video tutorial on YouTube, I am sure this translation may contain wording errors...
So i replaced the new videos with the old video without the menu background because.
1 - the background is not big enough for the 'in loaded game menu'.
2 - And too it interferes with the ui transparency and is distracting and blocking view there in the options.
3 - I like it more without it. Its not that hard to read the options.
Also like i said the game lags when the video does clip transitions.
You can opt for a version without clip transitions, and now the background is big enough. Sadly i cant code an integrated version that disappears when you access other menus in a loaded save.
well this looks lovely ....Lowenhertzeg
The update is great, but it lacks MCM support in the menu, because it overwrites the files, and completely removes it from the menu options.
The new update has a MCM compatible version included.
I don't understand what is the transition. Is there a way to keep only bleak for example? Or it will change?
transition reffers to the transition effect between scenes, which causes a short freeze for some.
Hey man, this is nice!, but i have a prolem. Im using MCM ver with Background and transition but MCM menu dosn't show. my order is MCM > This mod. Trying with this mod above MCM leaves me with a stalker picture in the main menu :(.
used both MCM versions with or without menu background but with transition (5. and 7. respectively) = no MCM in the menu showing despite using MCM version. Had your mod loaded in MO2 at the very bottom with MCM at the very top of the list.
used non-MCM version just to try that out = no MCM showing either. Does this work - is there an update needed? What went wrong here?
take this one instead:
Moddb.com
edit: seems this one (the seemingly older version) works. It has the "loneliness"-colortheme (my favorite of all these), a better background for the menu, transition and even new scenes.
the google drive link says it doesnt exist
