Tweaked weathers from Michiko's Weather Revamp that have improved compatibility with Arszi's Dynamic Radiation Zones and Radiation Overhaul.
With Michiko's permission and per Arszi's request, I am releasing tweaked weathers from Michiko's Weather Revamp that have improved compatibility with Arszi's Dynamic Radiation Zones and Radiation Overhaul. A few other tweaks and changes are included, so please be aware.
All credits go to Michiko for the weathers. I just tweaked his creation to fit my game.
Note: Made compatible with Soundscape Overhaul's gorgeous thunder sounds. However, this means that if you don't have SO installed and attempt to run these weathers without it, you will crash on start. So go grab SO, there's no reason not to. Just install it first and then overwrite its weathers with those included here.
Why is this necessary and what exactly does it do?
Arszi's Radiation Overhaul relies on wind_velocity values used by weathers. However, Michiko's Weather Revamp greatly increases wind_velocity values across the board in comparison to vanilla Anomaly, resulting in high winds. This massively boosts radiation levels on average, making early game particularly difficult. So, I tweaked the weathers, decreasing and generally changing the wind levels to improve how Arszi's addon works with Michiko's weathers. It's not perfect, the wind values are a little arbitrary, but should result in a greater range of wind patterns; from light breezes to storm level winds.
Other Important Changes:
- Sun now sets at 19:30 instead of 20:00. It gets dark at 20:30 rather than 22:00. I'm not sure what time of year it's supposed to be in the Zone in Anomaly, but two hours of twilight felt way too long. This change should motivate players who don't like stumbling through the dark to seek shelter once the sun starts to set. For me this resulted in a more concrete and directed schedule per day in the Zone, and also increased the amount of days I spend in the Zone during a playthrough. All credit for these changes go to Snaefells, who guided me in modifying weathers and sun behavior.
- Greatly reduced tree_altitude values; some trees were swaying like crazy, this looked particularly odd in the swamps.

doesn't this mean it gets dark earlier now and stays dark for longer tho?
Correct. Sunrise is unchanged. It generally starts to get light after 4:30.
Your values are insanely low and too constant compared to Vanilla's or Michiko's, this will make Radiation Overhaul way too easy and wind will almost never change cloud's power/radius.
I would recommend to vary the maximum value of wind power for clear, partly and cloudy weathers until 450-550 at least. With these default settings radiation in my radiation overhaul won't have a chance to become dangerous at all. Do not have to be that much constatnly of course, it is enough if it goes up for a few hours.
It's good that you cooperated and made such a wonderful addon. I'm waiting for the next version with more precise settings :)

I personally don't like Soundscape Overhaul since it removes a lot of ambient sounds from the original games I like, any slight adjustments I could make to make this run with rad overhaul and no SO3? Thanks!!!
So... is that good for arszi's radiation overhaul right now or not? :)
Apparently the configuration of this addon makes the danger of radiation easier, you may have to increase the values a little on your own and try.
Ha, oh no... What's the point of this mod if you have to go and change it all yourself for every weather hour after hour :)
